Summary: The study aimed to determine the integrated stress response in rainbow trout after acute hypoxia. The results showed that physiological responses were significantly affected by hypoxic stress and their interaction with time after the challenge. The study also revealed the importance of different elements and areas of the stress response, including systemic and mucosal responses, in maintaining homeostasis.

Summary: This study examined the effects of high-temperature stress on the skeletal muscle transcriptome of rainbow trout. The results showed increased levels of cortisol and glucose in response to high-temperature stress, but no changes in skeletal muscle oxidation were observed. Transcriptomic analysis revealed upregulation of genes related to autophagosome assembly, amino acid transport, and glutamine metabolism, as well as downregulation of genes related to digestion, proteolysis, and muscle contraction.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of taxifolin on rainbow trout under heat stress and Gyrodactylus flatworm infection. The results showed that taxifolin can alleviate heat-induced responses in fish and regulate the expression of apoptosis regulators, but has no significant effect on antioxidant enzyme expression. Taxifolin treatment does not affect the parasite load of Gyrodactylus infection.

Summary: Juvenile rainbow trout form dominance hierarchies, with subordinates experiencing chronic social stress and suppression of food intake. Our study found that the inhibition of food intake reflects increased expression of anorexigenic signals and decreased expression of orexigenic signals. Factors like elevated plasma cortisol and liver leptin transcript abundance contribute to the suppression of food intake in subordinates.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of foodborne fluoxetine on juvenile rainbow trout. The results showed significant changes in hematological profile, liver and kidney detoxifying enzyme activity, and damage to the proximal tubules of the caudal kidney, confirming the importance of its impact on immune response.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the physiological response of rainbow trout before slaughtering by analyzing skin mucus and plasma. The results showed that the procedures adopted after slaughtering only affected changes in plasma glucose and skin mucus activity in rainbow trout, indicating that the management protocol was compatible with non-stressful farming conditions.

Summary: This study evaluated the short-term innate immune response of rainbow trout to infection with Y. ruckeri. The results showed significant decreases in hematological parameters and oxidative stress indicators in the infected group compared to the control group. There were also significant differences in gene expression between infected individuals and the control group.

Summary: In rainbow trout, different stress responses to cortisol treatment and Fp challenge led to varied immunoglobulin responses and pathogen loads in BCWD-resistant and susceptible lines, suggesting that resistant fish may possess a better immune response to infections under conditions of increased stress.

Summary: The study observed stress responses in rainbow trout liver after receiving injections of tributyltin compounds, indicating different stress mechanisms caused by TBTC and TBTE. The findings suggest an ecotoxicological risk for freshwater ecosystems due to the weak induction of metal-trapping metallothioneins and changes in oxidative stress biomarkers in TBT-treated trout.

Summary: Environmental enrichment is a promising strategy to improve the welfare of fish in captivity, but its effects in terms of shelter type on rainbow trout juveniles are not significant when it comes to reducing overall stress levels. Further research is needed to optimize shelter design and application timing.

Summary: The study found that rainbow trout exhibit enhanced behavior, antioxidant capacity, and natural immune function in the early stages of acute heat stress, but their stress resistance decreases with increased stress intensity and duration. Non-coding RNAs play a significant role in regulating heat stress in rainbow trout, influencing metabolism, apoptosis, and immune regulation. Analysis identified key lncRNA-mRNA pairs essential for regulating acute heat stress in rainbow trout, providing insights for breeding heat-resistant varieties.

Summary: In this study, 10 YTH domain-containing genes were systematically identified and characterized in rainbow trout. These genes were classified into three evolutionary subclades: YTHDF, YTHDC1, and YTHDC2. The expression patterns of these genes were significantly different in response to temperature stress and bacterial infection in rainbow trout.
