Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is the most potent vasoconstrictor molecule up to now identified. Endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells and epithelial cells of airways are able to produce this potent proinflammatory, secretagogues and bronchoconstrictors mediator also implicated in the pathogenesis of inflammatory diseases of airways in human being.
