Summary: The automated CNN-based method for liver MRE analysis shows strong agreement with manual ROI-based analysis and excellent discriminative performance for histology-determined fibrosis stages. This has significant clinical impact in reliably assessing fibrosis in chronic liver disease across different settings.

Summary: This study tested the feasibility and utility of transient elastography in the emergency department, and investigated its ability to predict hospitalization duration and costs for non-elective patients. The study found that transient elastography can help identify patients in need of increased healthcare resources.

Summary: In this population-based study, there was no independent association found between steatosis and fibrosis and cardiovascular disease. Further large prospective cohort studies are needed to provide more definitive evidence on this topic.

Summary: This study evaluated the different pharmacokinetic parameters of the DCE-MRI method for diagnosing and staging liver fibrosis in rabbits. The results indicate that K-trans is the best parameter for distinguishing fibrotic livers from normal livers and mild to advanced fibrosis, while K-ep is suitable for distinguishing mild fibrosis.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the feasibility of quantitative MRI in children with cystic fibrosis (CF) and compare the quantitative MRI-derived metrics with research ultrasound (US). It was found that MRI can provide an objective measure of liver disease in CF patients and support the US determination of advanced liver disease and steatosis.

Summary: Patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), even without advanced fibrosis, have worse health-related quality of life (HRQoL) compared to the general population. In NAFLD patients without advanced fibrosis, HRQoL is associated with non-liver comorbidities, but not liver stiffness.

Summary: The study demonstrates that liver and spleen 2D-SWE are reliable complementary methods for diagnosing advanced fibrosis in patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). Spleen 2D-SWE appears to be less influenced by inflammation and could aid in fibrosis assessment in therapy-naive patients or those with active hepatitis.

Summary: The addition of dispersion slope derived from two-dimensional shear-wave elastography did not improve the diagnostic performance in detecting liver fibrosis, necroinflammation, or steatosis in patients with primarily viral hepatitis.

Summary: This study evaluated the prevalence of liver fibrosis and hepatic autoimmunity in systemic sclerosis (SSc) patients. The results showed that some patients had liver fibrosis and steatosis, which were associated with alcohol consumption, waist circumference, biochemistry markers, and specific antibody positivity. The study suggests the importance of liver examination and autoimmune screening during diagnosis and disease progression.

Summary: This study investigates the response of hepatic tissue to percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) of liver tumors using MRI and MR elastography in a clinical setting. The results demonstrate that total liver stiffness and healthy parenchyma stiffness increase after MWA. The response to MWA is influenced by the duration and energy dose of the treatment session, as well as the baseline tumor stiffness. Successful ablation is associated with increased ablation margin stiffness and higher ablation intensity.

Summary: The study presents a novel ultrasound matrix array implementation of S-WAVE that can sample axial multi-frequency steady-state tissue motion over a volume and shows correlation with MRE results. This approach has the potential to deliver a similar assessment of liver fibrosis as MRE in a more accessible and cost-effective way.

Summary: The staging of liver fibrosis is crucial in Wilson's disease for prognosis and treatment. While histopathological examination is the standard method for fibrosis assessment, non-invasive techniques such as transient elastography and shear wave elastography are considered reliable and repetitive alternatives to liver biopsy. This article provides an overview of available elastography techniques and recent studies on liver elastography in Wilson's disease.

Summary: 3D MRE has higher image quality and interobserver agreement compared to 2D MRE, but similar diagnostic performance in detecting and staging liver fibrosis. Both 2D and 3D MRE methods outperform blood-based biomarkers in accuracy for >= F2, >= F3, and F4 fibrosis stages.
