Summary: The required amount of ICM for CT can be reduced by 50% while maintaining image quality and diagnostic accuracy using GANs. The networks achieving 50% reduction in ICM dose reached 100% consistency in the crucial question of pathological consistency. More studies are needed to confirm these initial results.

Summary: The study evaluated the feasibility of dual-energy CT-based material decomposition to detect and quantify holmium microspheres in phantoms and rabbits. Results showed that spectral material decomposition using different tube voltage combinations allowed accurate quantifications for concentrations down to 0.125 mg/mL holmium.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of scan modes and reconstruction kernels using a novel dual-source photon-counting detector CT (PCD-CT) on the lumen visibility and sharpness of different stent sizes. The results showed that the UHR acquisition mode and sharp reconstruction kernels significantly improved the in-stent lumen visibility and sharpness, especially for smaller stent sizes.

Summary: The study assessed the diagnostic accuracy of iodine-corrected vertebral BMD measurements derived from non-dedicated contrast-enhanced phantomless dual-layer spectral CT examinations. Converted BMD values adjusted for individual vessel iodine concentrations showed a high agreement with non-enhanced DLCT-BMD, suggesting that opportunistic BMD measurements are feasible even in non-dedicated contrast-enhanced DLCT examinations.

Summary: This study analyzed CTP datasets from 14 different centers and found significant variations in AIF parameters, which may impact clinical decision making in stroke diagnosis. The results of perfusion analysis methods also showed significant differences in infarct volumes between centers.

Summary: The study aimed to develop a dual-energy CT method for differentiating and quantifying high-Z contrast elements, evaluating the limitations based on element concentration and atomic number. Results showed that dual-energy CT can effectively differentiate and quantify high-Z elements with high accuracy. Differentiation between elements was proportional to the isoattenuating HU values.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify lung parenchyma and airway wall enhancement using a single contrast-enhanced spectral detector CT. The results showed that lung density was higher at 40 keV compared to 100 keV, and wall thickness and enhancement were higher at 40 keV for arterial phases. Spectral CT can quantify lung parenchyma and airway wall enhancement, and further studies are needed to analyze inflammatory airway diseases.

Summary: This study aimed to assess liver enhancement in steatotic livers compared to non-steatotic livers on CT images, and to determine the contrast medium injection volume required for improving image quality during the portal venous phase. The results showed that liver enhancement was significantly lower in patients with hepatic steatosis, which may have implications for detectability and contrast dosing in CT imaging.

Summary: A predicting model for histologic classification of solid lung lesions based on preoperative contrast-enhanced CT was developed and validated. The model used two clinical factors and twenty-one CT characteristics to construct a multinomial multivariable logistic regression model for classification. The model showed high diagnostic performance in both the development and validation cohorts, effectively stratifying histologic types of solid lung lesions and accurately assessing malignancy.

Summary: The study investigates the inter-scan and inter-scanner variation of iodine concentration and attenuation in different DECT scanners, finding that the iodine concentration shows higher variation compared to attenuation values. This variation depends on the scanner pairs and organs assessed, highlighting the importance of acknowledging these differences in clinical and scientific DECT applications.

Summary: The study suggests that DE-CT-derived IC and Z(eff) in addition to conventional HU values can be clinically useful for discriminating between primary lung cancer and pulmonary metastases. Combining these imaging parameters may improve the accuracy of differentiation between the two types of tumors.

Summary: The safety and feasibility of using a nanoparticulate contrast agent, ExiTron nano 12000, in contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) was evaluated in a rat liver tumor model. The study found that CECT with ExiTron nano 12000 enhanced liver contrast and was well tolerated. Therefore, CECT can be a safe and effective method for measuring liver tumors in rats.

Summary: This study aimed to quantify the accuracy and inter-observer reproducibility of registration-based and manual assessment of aortic diameters and growth rates. The results showed that the registration-based technique presented low bias and excellent agreement for aortic diameters, and good agreement and much higher inter-observer reproducibility for growth rates compared to manual assessment. The mapping of diameter and growth rate was highly reproducible in the whole thoracic aorta.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the combination of investigational contrast media with spectrally optimized energy-thresholding of photon-counting detector computed tomography for calcium subtraction and stenosis assessment in a coronary artery stenosis phantom. Results showed that tungsten and hafnium as contrast media yielded superior image noise properties, improved vessel lumen visualization, and higher subjective image quality compared to the reference standard iodine.

Summary: The study found that positron emission tomography-computerised tomography is more accurate than dynamic contrast-enhanced computerised tomography in characterising solitary pulmonary nodules. The combination of maximum standardised uptake value and peak enhancement had the highest accuracy with a slight increase in costs. The study also suggested that a combination of positron emission tomography and dynamic contrast-enhanced computerised tomography may be considered for better management of small cancers.
