Summary: In this study, two cold-active bacteriophages, ACA1 and ACA2, were isolated from sediment samples taken from the western Arctic Ocean. These phages were able to replicate at a low temperature of 1 degree C and had typical myovirus morphology. The complete genome sequences of ACA1 and ACA2 were very similar, encoding lysogeny-related proteins. The study expands our knowledge of P2-like phage diversity in Pseudoalteromonas and demonstrates their presence in the Arctic niche.
