Summary: Solar salterns on the coast were often left unattended and their role and adaptation mechanisms in hypersaline environments were unclear. Through analyzing the expression levels of genes in the Halomonas getboli YJPS3-2 strain isolated from an abandoned saltern, we identified its adaptation mechanisms to high salinity environments. The YJPS3-2 strain primarily overexpresses genes associated with ABC transport and cheA gene, and showed the potential to remove pollutants and secrete secondary metabolites for thriving the surrounding in saline environments.

Summary: Halide perovskites (HPs) are promising solar energy conversion materials, but their stability against humidity is a major challenge. Two-dimensional halide perovskites (2D HPs) have been proposed as a solution, but they still lack thermodynamic stability. In this study, we demonstrate that an external electric field can enhance the humidity resistance of 2D HPs and make them suitable for photocatalytic HI splitting.
