Summary: A novel strain of strictly anaerobic nitrogen-fixing bacteria, named Fundidesulfovibrio agrisoli sp. nov., was isolated from a rice field. The strain SG106(T) showed close relatedness to Fundidesulfovibrio magnetotacticus, with a 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 97.3%. Phylogenetic and phylogenomic analysis confirmed the clustering of strain SG106(T) with members of the genus Fundidesulfovibrio. The strain exhibited growth at temperatures of 20-40 ? and salinity levels of 0-0.4% (w/v) NaCl.

Summary: Porteresia coarctata is a true halophytic perennial wild grass found in Indian coastal mangroves, with a distinct phytolith morphotype Rondel Four Horned. This morphotype serves as a useful indicator of coastal swampy or intertidal mangroves along the Indian east coast, and has been used to identify past mangrove environments in late Quaternary sedimentary profiles.

Summary: This study isolated a novel Gram-negative bacterium Pseudoprevotella muciniphila with mucin-degrading capabilities from the rumen epithelium of Korean cattle. The bacterium showed specific growth conditions and contained unique fatty acids, polar lipids, and respiratory quinones. Functional annotation of the genome revealed potential virulence factors that allow the bacterium to adhere to host cells and evade immune responses.

Summary: Strain KVB23(T) is a facultative anaerobic bacterium isolated from rice plant roots in South Korea, with the ability to solubilize calcium phosphate tribasic and synthesize tryptophan, which may enhance rice plant growth. Through various methods, it was found to represent a novel genus within the Rhodobacteriaceae family, named Fuscibacter oryzae gen. nov., sp. nov.

Summary: The study identified a novel strain NS-1 isolated from a deep-sea cold seep in the South China Sea, which belongs to a new genus Iocasia fonsfrigidae based on phylogenetic analysis. NS-1 strain has the ability to metabolize multiple carbohydrates and produce fermentation products such as hydrogen. It is predicted that Iocasia sp. plays an ecological role in the cold seep microbial community by degrading various carbohydrates to produce small molecules for utilization by other members.

Summary: Polyphasic taxonomic and comparative genomic analyses revealed a novel species among acetic acid bacteria, named Brytella acorum gen. nov., sp. nov., represented by lambic beer isolates including strain LMG 32668T and the kombucha isolate LMG 32879. This species has Acidomonas methanolica as its closest phylogenomic neighbor and possesses metabolic characteristics typical of acetic acid bacteria. The absence of glycolysis pathway and the presence of both aerobic respiration and oxidative fermentation for energy metabolism are notable features. Antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors are absent.

Summary: Two new bacterial strains, Marseille-P2698(T) and Marseille-P2260(T), were isolated from human stools using the culturomic method. These two strains were fully described using the taxonogenomic approach. Marseille-P2698(T) was identified as a Gram-negative, motile, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium, while Marseille-P2260(T) was identified as a Gram-positive, motile, spore-forming rod-shaped bacterium.

Summary: A new Gram-negative bacterium was isolated from coral and identified as a potential new species in a new genus. The strain C21T shares 95.7% sequence identity to its closest neighbor based on 16S rRNA gene sequences. Phylogenetic analysis indicates that strain C21T forms a distinct branch in the family Cellvibrionaceae. Cellular fatty acids and polar lipids can also differentiate strain C21T from closely related type strains.
