Summary: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly malignant tumor with poor prognosis. The molecular mechanisms of pancreatic oncogenesis and malignant progression are not fully understood. Recent studies have shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) process in PDAC, affecting the migration and invasion of tumor cells. These RNAs can regulate the expression of EMT-related proteins through different mechanisms, thus influencing the development of cancer.

Summary: This study identified differentially expressed EMT-related lncRNAs and mRNAs in keloid tissues compared to normal tissues and interpreted their functions. The differentially expressed mRNAs were found to function in the extracellular matrix, protein binding, the positive regulation of cellular processes, the Set1C/COMPASS complex, and histone acetyltransferase activity. The lncRNA XLOC_000587 may promote cell proliferation and migration by enhancing the expression of ENAH, while AF268386 may facilitate the invasive growth of keloids by upregulating DDR2.

Summary: The long noncoding RNA EPB41L4A-AS1 is highly expressed in colorectal cancer tissues and is associated with poor prognosis and tumor metastasis. It may be involved in the development of CRC by activating the Rho/Rho-associated protein kinase signaling pathway.

Summary: The lncRNA TCONS_00068220 is significantly upregulated in breast cancer tissues compared to non-cancerous tissues, and its expression level is correlated with lymphatic metastasis, Ki67 index, clinical stage, and differentiation grade. TCONS_00068220 promotes breast cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion by interacting with E-cadherin and suppressing its expression, suggesting its potential role as an oncogene in breast cancer progression.

Summary: Primary breast cancer stem cell (BCSC) cultures isolated from TNBC specimens have been established and shown to grow as tumor spheres under anchorage-independent culture conditions in vitro, while reliably forming tumors in mice when transplanted in limiting dilutions in vivo. Additionally, these BCSC xenograft tumors exhibit similar architecture and gene expression to the original patient tumor, suggesting a promising model for researching BCSC biology and testing new treatment options for TNBC.

Summary: The study reveals that aging ECM can drive normal mammary epithelial cells to a more invasive and cancer-like phenotype, and enhance motility and invasiveness in breast cancer cells. Different responses of cells to young and aged ECMs may lead to the identification of new targets for cancer treatment and prevention.

Summary: The long noncoding RNA Meg3 plays a crucial role in regulating EMT, affecting myoblast differentiation and skeletal muscle regeneration. Inhibition of Meg3 induces EMT and suppresses cell state transitions, highlighting its key role in promoting differentiation of myoblasts. The study also demonstrates that Meg3-dependent Ezh2 activity impacts epigenetic alterations associated with TGF beta activation, providing insights into the mechanisms of muscle development.

Summary: The study showed that lncRNA AL161431.1 was highly expressed in pancreatic cancer cells and tissues, and knockdown of this lncRNA inhibited cancer cell growth and induced cell death. In vivo experiments demonstrated that SW1990 cells with stable knockdown of lncRNA AL161431.1 had significantly slower xenograft growth in mice, indicating its involvement in promoting pancreatic cancer progression.

Summary: This study reveals the regulatory role of lncRNA NR2F1-AS1 in metastatic dormancy, promoting tumor dissemination but inhibiting proliferation in mesenchymal-like breast cancer stem-like cells. This connection between BCSC plasticity and metastatic dormancy highlights the importance of lncRNA in these processes.

Summary: This review highlights the latest aspects of breast cancer metastasis into the bone, including biomarkers, biological processes related to the origin of metastatic cells, the role of Breast Osteoblast-Like Cells, and the prognostic value of breast microcalcifications for bone metastatic disease. Additionally, the use of molecular imaging investigations for identifying early neoplastic lesions with high propensity to form bone metastasis in vivo is proposed.

Summary: The study by Zagorac et al. unveils a novel molecular mechanism in breast cancer involving SOX2, EZH2, and the long noncoding RNA SCIRT. Upregulation of SCIRT may lead to the dedifferentiation of TICs into a less tumorigenic phenotype and offer new therapeutic opportunities.
