Summary: The study demonstrates that surface modification of In2O3 films with rhodium atoms deposited by electron beam sputtering can significantly affect the XP spectra, with main changes occurring in the Rh3d region due to the dimensional effect of rhodium particles. With an increase in rhodium surface coverage, particles transition from a dispersed state to large clusters, approaching the electronic structure of bulk Rh.

Summary: The epitaxial growth of Ga2O3 and In(2)O(3) on (0001)-oriented Al2O3 by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy was investigated, and their synthesis has similar growth kinetics limited by the formation of volatile suboxides. The growth kinetics of beta-Ga2O3 and c-In2O3 were analyzed qualitatively on buffer layers mimicking homoepitaxial growth conditions, focusing on the influence of atomic oxygen. The nucleation window of beta-Ga2O3 and c-In2O3 grown on (0001) Al2O3 was found to be influenced by the growth temperature and III-V surface ratio.

Summary: Photonic-crystal surface-emitting lasers (PCSELs) have potential for large-area single-mode lasers. However, the scaling challenge in increasing PCSEL area while preserving single-mode operation has hindered progress. This study shows that the existence of bound states in the continuum (BIC) can overcome this challenge by enabling a large and constant Q-contrast independent of crystal size. An analytical theory and full-wave simulations confirm the size-invariant Q-contrast enabled by BIC. The study also suggests increasing Q-contrast by introducing specific spatial nonuniformities, opening new possibilities for ultralarge-area PCSEL design.

Summary: This paper reports a new type of high-performance formaldehyde gas sensor using g-C3N4 nanosheets to modify the surface of In2O3 nanospheres as the sensing material. The sensor showed a 2-fold response increase compared to pure In2O3 when loaded with 12 wt% g-C3N4, with low operating temperature and short response time.

Summary: In this study, high-resolution P- and S-wave velocity models of the whole mantle were presented, focusing on the North Pacific realm. Compared to previous models, the new models better exhibited rich variations in the properties of slabs and cratons subducting/subducted into the mantle. The Kurile-Kamchatka-Aleutian arc exhibited a distinct and well-defined pattern of long linear bands characterized by high velocity anomalies.

Summary: In this paper, a model of heterogeneous dielectric medium with fractal geometry or disordered random structures is proposed using non-integer dimensions. The relationship between capacitance and fractional dimensions is investigated. The findings are verified through electromagnetic field simulation software, experimental measurements, and the equivalent capacitance method. The study reveals an effective gain of capacitance by using less dielectric materials.

Summary: The effect of surface coverage of rhodium on In2O3 films on their sensitivity to ozone was studied, with a pronounced maximum sensitivity observed at a coverage of around 0.01 ML of Rh. This change is attributed to the transition from an atomically dispersed state of rhodium to a 3D cluster state.

Summary: The development of ultrafast laser science allows for the combination of Floquet engineering with extreme time resolution, enabling optical control of matter in the petahertz domain. The study demonstrates that a Floquet state can be observed with a driving field lasting for only 10 cycles and that the finite lifetime of the driven state can be explained using an analytical model based on Floquet theory. Controlling the duration of the driving laser pulse adds a new capability to the toolbox of Floquet engineering.

Summary: The conditions for ab initio evaluation of surface band alignment in slab models are critically reviewed in this study. Based on the employed approach, the relative arrangement of energy levels between aromatic dye and wurtzite semiconductor surface and its dependency on the coadsorption of representative ligands are investigated. The results demonstrate the energy level shifts mediated by surface chemistry at the interface. Predictable control of the electronic properties of organically modified semiconductor surfaces can be utilized as a versatile adjustable instrument in optimizing the performance of optoelectronic devices.
