Summary: This study investigated whether trauma-related guilt mediates the link between PTSD and suicidal ideation. The results showed that the severity of PTSD symptoms and trauma-related guilt were positively associated with suicidal ideation. The findings suggested that trauma-related guilt may represent a critical link between PTSD and suicidal ideation, highlighting its importance for therapeutic intervention.

Summary: The DSM-5 defines trauma as an event involving actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violence. However, the strict distinction between traumatic and less severe stressful events is not helpful for public health. Public health should focus on all individuals experiencing distressing stress and trauma reactions, rather than just those with the most severe experiences.

Summary: This study aimed to analyze the risk factors of PTSD among the 2004 Indian tsunami survivors in Aceh and North Sumatra province, Indonesia. The results showed that 15% and 20% of the respondents had persistent medium-term and delayed-onset PTSD, respectively. The vital predictors of persistent PTSD included being female, aged 50 and older, married, and having higher direct trauma exposures to the tsunami. Furthermore, delayed-onset PTSD was associated with negative life events after the tsunami and perceived less social support.

Summary: Through a systematic review and meta-analysis, it was found that there is a relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the risk of subsequent myocardial infarction (MI), with depression possibly being a mediating factor. However, due to high heterogeneity between studies and possible publication bias, further research is needed to validate these results.

Summary: Protective factors such as optimism may be associated with lower post-traumatic symptoms in individuals with psychosis, while factors like resilience and adaptive coping may contribute more to post-traumatic growth. Identifying and enhancing these additional psychological protective factors could lead to positive treatment outcomes beyond just reducing post-traumatic stress symptoms for individuals with psychosis.
