Summary: This paper examines the current academic foundation of buyer-supplier relationships (BSRs) in low-carbon supply chains (LCSCs) and finds that it is fragmented and lacks a balanced research agenda. By analyzing 804 peer-reviewed articles, the study presents 29 research propositions and categorizes them under eight theoretical lenses. The findings contribute to the theoretical knowledge of supply chain management and highlight emerging research topics.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the mediating effect of risk management capabilities on the relationship between supply chain innovation and competitive advantage, as well as the moderating effect of the buyer-supplier relationship on these relationships. The results show a positive impact of supply chain innovation on competitive advantage through risk management capabilities, with the buyer-supplier relationship playing a moderating role in the process.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of trust, commitment, and relationship specific investment (RSI) on firms' cooperation, innovation, and financial performance in the Chinese business market. The study collected data from 101 business buyers and 108 suppliers in mainland China. The results show that the effectiveness of these relationship factors differs between buyers and suppliers. Trust and RSI directly affect buyers' cooperation performance, while commitment is the immediate precursor of suppliers' cooperation performance. Trust and commitment lead to buyer's innovation performance directly, while RSI is a direct driver of supplier's innovation performance. These findings provide important insights for relationship management in the Chinese business market.

Summary: This study emphasizes the significant role of a supply chain leader in managing overall resilience capabilities among supply chain network members. Leader-member exchange has an important impact on supply chain network resilience performance and the asymmetric roles of different capabilities in resilience improvement need to be considered. The research provides a novel theoretical model for investigating the value of supply chain leadership.

Summary: This study explores the impact of shopper solutions on retailers, manufacturers, and shoppers. The findings suggest that shopper solutions can increase sales totals, the quantity and breadth of displayed products, and shoppers' willingness-to-pay for displayed products. Shoppers attribute the presence of solutions more strongly to retailers, and show higher word-of-mouth and loyalty intentions towards retailers when solutions are provided.

Summary: Supplier sustainability is a crucial issue, particularly for suppliers in developing countries with limited technological and knowledge capabilities. The sustainability practices of suppliers have significant impacts on supply chain performance and public perception. Through game-theoretic analysis, we find that supplier code of conduct (SCC) programs can effectively improve supply chain performance and buying firms' profits, and they can be more effective than common auditing programs. An SCC program also enhances a buying firm's potential to survive in the market, particularly when there is high consumer awareness. Additionally, buying firms should consider investing in their suppliers' capabilities, regardless of whether an SCC program is initiated.

Summary: Existing studies on the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and firm performance mainly focus on individual companies and overlook the role of suppliers. This study, based on contingency theory, examines the impact of alignment between buyers and suppliers in CSR implementation (CSR alignment) on buyers' performance. The findings suggest that CSR alignment between buyers and suppliers positively influences buyers' performance, particularly in terms of sales growth. Additionally, this positive relationship is strengthened when the buyer is non-state-owned or when its media attention increases. The study highlights the importance for firms to consider not only their own CSR efforts but also the CSR practices of their suppliers in order to achieve superior performance.

Summary: The lack of transparency and visibility in supply chains makes it difficult to implement sustainability without the involvement of suppliers. Buying companies use different sustainable supply chain management practices to address this issue. This study investigates whether the assessment and cooperation practices of buying companies enable suppliers to adopt similar practices and cascade social sustainability requirements to sub-suppliers. The findings reveal that there is a trickle-down effect of sustainable supply chain practices from buying companies to suppliers and from suppliers to sub-suppliers. Cooperation practices are found to be effective for the development of suppliers' sustainability capabilities, unlike assessment practices.

Summary: This study examines the impact of environmental and social sustainability asymmetries on the financial and market performance of buyers. Contrary to previous research, the findings indicate that sustainability asymmetries can have a positive effect on financial performance. Furthermore, the study reveals that environmental asymmetries significantly influence firm performance, while social asymmetries do not. Additionally, the effects of asymmetries vary across different environmental sub-dimensions and depend on which party leads the sustainability initiatives.

Summary: While trust and opportunism were traditionally considered as opposites, when viewed through the lens of paradox theory, they can coexist and complement each other in achieving sustainability in buyer-supplier relationships. A study using survey data from 259 German firms found that high trust and low opportunism facilitate sustainability collaboration, requiring a resolution strategy. On the other hand, trust and opportunism initially enhance sustainability evaluation, but then decrease, suggesting the need for a paradox acceptance strategy. The effects also vary between younger and mature relationships.

Summary: This study examines the impact of knowledge acquisition from suppliers on product stewardship and environmental performance. The findings suggest that knowledge acquisition has a double-edged effect, with a positive moderating effect on the relationship between product stewardship and environmental performance. However, this effect is successfully negated when knowledge exploitation and supplier opportunism are maintained at ideal levels.

The research model investigates the role of social capital in achieving organizational ambidexterity for supply chain resilience. The findings support the overall model, with the exception of cognitive capital not being related to ambidexterity.
