Summary: The study found that dentin lysate coating did not significantly affect bone regeneration in rat calvarial defects, with nearly complete defect closure even in untreated defects. Therefore, conclusions cannot be drawn regarding the stimulation of bone regeneration by dentin lysates.

Summary: A common clinical method for identifying anomalies in bone growth in infants and newborns is skeletal age estimation with X-ray images. This study proposes a bone age evaluation system based on a customized convolutional neural network for the detection of hand bone maturation. The results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the existing model with 97% accuracy.

Summary: In this study, nano-hydroxyapatite and bone morphogenetic protein were added to cross-linkable thiol-modified hyaluronic acid, and its usefulness as an osteoinductive injectable material was evaluated using an animal model. The results showed that the prepared material can be used as an injection-type osteoinductive bone-forming material.

Summary: Bone age is the chronological age of human bones, and it plays a key role in reflecting bone development maturity and human growth. Deep learning-based bone age detection algorithms are favored now, but there is still room for improvement in accuracy due to the critical and rigorous fields, such as clinical medicine and forensic identification, where bone age detection is used. This study combines YOLOv5 and ResNet34 techniques to create an innovative bone age detection model (YARN) and applies the RUS-CHN scoring method to comprehensively assess bone age. Experimental results on the Flying Paddle AI Studio dataset show that the YOLOv5 and ResNet34-based model significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of bone age detection.

Summary: Alveolar ridge resorption is a common complication after tooth extraction, requiring lateral bone augmentation. This study investigated the hypothesis that individual phenotypic dimensions may play a role in the degree of resorption.

Summary: Skeletal age estimation using X-ray images is an important clinical method. This study proposes a robust bone age evaluation system based on hand skeleton guidelines, achieving an accuracy rate of 97% using a convolutional neural network (CNN). Additionally, the research analyzes growth rate prediction using six transfer learning models, providing valuable insights for pediatric medicine diagnostics.

Summary: Sinus augmentation is a crucial step in posterior maxillary implant prosthesis reconstruction. Literature shows that the implant success rate is comparable to pristine bone. This review thoroughly discusses different osteotomy techniques, indications for 1 or 2-stage approaches, control of Schneiderian membrane integrity, and management of intra- and post-operative complications. The use of contemporary advanced techniques, such as lateral wall osteotomy, has shown reduced invasiveness and complication occurrences. A well-codified patient selection involving a rhinologist as part of the medical team is beneficial for early diagnosis. In-depth knowledge of anatomy, standardized surgical technique, and understanding of complication etiology and management are prerequisites for minimizing patient morbidity and achieving predictable successful outcomes.

Summary: Periostin is a matricellular protein predominantly expressed at the periosteum of bone, and it plays an important role in facilitating osteoblast differentiation and mineralization. It is involved in maintaining bone mass and tissue strength during growth and development, but its function during advanced aging is relatively unknown.

Summary: This systematic review found that soft tissue augmentation procedures inconsistently affected marginal bone level changes, but consistently improved secondary outcomes. The combination of soft and hard tissue augmentation showed better results in terms of marginal soft tissue recession compared to hard tissue augmentation alone. Contour augmentations with soft or hard tissue augmentation resulted in comparable marginal bone level changes.

Summary: This study compared the performance of autologous bone grafts and porcine xenografts in maxillary sinus lift surgeries, showing no significant differences in bone level increases between the two materials. The porcine xenografts were found to be a reasonable alternative to autologous bone for sinus lift procedures.
