Summary: Less-studied flavonoid Tamarixetin demonstrated significant dose-dependent inhibition of MMP-9 expression and cancer cell migration and invasion potential, indicating its potential as an anti-cancer agent. The compound also inhibits crucial functions necessary for MMP-9 activation and modulates endogenous regulators of MMP-9 activity, suggesting it could be a template for novel therapeutic applications.

Summary: The study found that the level of proBDNF in the media of A549 cells was higher than in H1299 cells, and these levels were likely regulated by PI3K, AKT, and NF kappa B. MMP9 plays a key role in regulating the cytotoxic effects induced by proBDNF in lung cancer cells.

Summary: Overexpression of miR-133a can reduce the invasion, proliferation, migration, and matrix metalloproteinase expression of NSCLC cells and promote cell apoptosis. This may be correlated to targeted down-regulation of LASP1 expression.

Summary: This research investigates the effects of urolithin-B on glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) U87 cells. The results suggest that urolithin-B can decrease cell viability, induce necrosis and cell cycle arrest, increase reactive oxygen species production, and reduce cell migration in U87 cells. These findings indicate that urolithin-B may be a promising compound for GBM treatment.

Summary: Our study showed that penfluridol can reduce the migration, invasion, and adhesion of LADC cells, potentially by inhibiting MMP-12 expression and reversing MMP-12-induced EMT. MMP-12 may serve as a useful biomarker for predicting LADC progression and as a promising penfluridol target for treating metastatic LADC.

Summary: The expression of POSTN is significantly increased in NSCLC and may serve as an independent prognostic factor. POSTN knockdown inhibits the migration and invasion of lung cancer cells, potentially through modulating the expression of MMP-2.

Summary: Xanthohumol (XN), a prenylated flavonoid from hops, has anti-proliferative and growth inhibitory effects on lung cancer. It can impair cell migration by decreasing levels of pro-invasive MMP-9. XN also reduces the production of pro-angiogenic cytokines and inhibits the epithelial-mesenchymal transition, ultimately suppressing metastatic progression in lung cancer cells.

Summary: A novel in situ single molecule spectroscopy method based on fluorescent correlation spectroscopy (FCS) technique was proposed for measuring MMP-9 activity in single living cells. The method utilizes a fluorescent specific peptide and a reference dye as dual probes, and ratiometric translational diffusion time as the measurement parameter.

Summary: This study investigated the expression of MMP-13, TWIST1, and CD44 in ESCC and found significant correlations with clinical features, such as tumor progression and invasion. The results suggest that the TWIST1-CD44-MMP-13 axis may be involved in tumor aggressiveness and could serve as diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets in ESCC.
