Summary: This study identifies differential expression of Aurora, Cyclin D1, and HNF-3a proteins between African American and Caucasian prostate cancer tissue. These proteins may be involved in different pathways leading to aggressive prostate cancer behavior in African American patients and could potentially serve as biomarkers for prostate cancer racial disparity.

Summary: In this study, it was found that miR-195-5p regulates cell proliferation, apoptosis, and invasion in human thyroid cancer by interacting with TERT. Overexpression of miR-195-5p inhibits proliferation and invasion, and promotes apoptosis, effects that can be reversed by the overexpression of TERT. This suggests that miR-195-5p may serve as a potential therapeutic target for human thyroid cancer.

Summary: In metastatic prostate cancer patients, genetic variants did not significantly differ between different races, but BRCA1 variants were more common in African American patients, while variants in non-BRCA DNA repair genes were less likely to be found in African Americans. Family history was associated with genetic testing results in Caucasians only.

Summary: This study reveals ethnic disparities in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its age-related patterns. Using data from NHANES and GGMP, the study finds that the prevalence of MetS increases nonlinearly with age and Chinese subjects have a lower prevalence of MetS compared to other American races. The most common MetS components in Chinese subjects are reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels and elevated blood pressure, while elevated triglyceride levels and abdominal obesity are most common in Americans. Before the age of 40, abdominal obesity and elevated triglyceride levels are the prominent components associated with MetS in all races.

Summary: This study compared perioperative complications and functional outcomes between African American and Caucasian patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty and total knee arthroplasty. Despite lower preoperative functional scores, African American patients showed greater postoperative gains compared to Caucasian patients, without significant differences in complications.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between lung cancer health disparities and patient factors, focusing on regional differences in healthcare utilization and racial characteristics. The findings highlight the increased risk of health inequalities among minority groups and certain regions due to disparities in healthcare utilization. This has important implications for decision-makers and hospital managers.

Summary: Ethno-racial differences in the risk of psychosis and sub-threshold psychotic experiences exist, with nuanced variation within and across different ethnic groups. These differences may be influenced by experiences living in the US, highlighting the importance of community-specific interventions.

Summary: African Americans in the United States have a higher incidence and mortality rate for Prostate Cancer compared to Caucasian Americans, due to various factors including socioeconomic issues, healthcare access problems, and tumor biology. Recent studies suggest that even with equal healthcare access, disparities in Prostate Cancer incidence still exist, highlighting the need for further research and interventions to reduce inequality. Strategies such as managing comorbidities and exploring new treatment options like immunotherapy show promise in improving outcomes for African American men with Prostate Cancer.

Summary: Through critical race theory, we can better understand the role of the American legal system and newspapers in maintaining racial status quo before the civil rights movement of the 1960s. The intersection of race, journalism, and libel law led to a series of cases where white people were mistakenly identified as black, prompting libel suits from 1900 to 1957. These issues were resolved when the US Supreme Court ruled in New York Times v. Sullivan that libel law falls under First Amendment protection.

Summary: There are racial disparities in the outcome of TNBC patients between women of African ancestry and women of European ancestry, with miRNA showing potential as a biomarker for improving diagnosis and treatment in TNBC. Using LCM, miRNA expression was evaluated in AA and EA TNBC patients, showing differential expression of certain miRNAs. Frozen samples had higher RNA abundance compared to formalin fixed, paraffin embedded samples.

Summary: This analysis looks at the prevalence of transmitted NNRTI resistance in Europe, the United States, and Canada, with the United States seeing a rise to over 10% in 2015, European countries at around 4% until 2012 before increasing to 7% in 2016, and Canada maintaining a prevalence of 0%-3%. Despite newer treatment classes being available, there has been an increasing trend in transmitted NNRTI resistance up to 2016.

The results suggest that African-American density is negatively related to racial disparity in police arrests, while crime concentration does not affect the racial disparity nor moderate the relationship between African-American density and racial disparity.
