Summary: In this study, NiO and WO3 oxide semiconductors were prepared on glass substrates using RF Magnetron Sputtering technique and their structural and optical properties were characterized. The optical responses of these semiconductors to hydrogen gas were investigated and it was found that they exhibited different optical absorption changes in the wavelength range of 450-850 nm. Palladium coating significantly improved the response and recovery times of NiO sensors and increased their response to high concentrations of H-2 gas by approximately 150%.

Summary: MoS2 nanochains were successfully prepared using a facile electrospinning and hydrothermal process. The morphology of MoS2 nanochains was evaluated using field emission scanning electron microscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. A slurry composed of MoS2 nanochains was coated on a silver electrode for ammonia detection, showing a detection range of 25-500 ppm. The MoS2 nanochains exhibited excellent sensing response, reproducibility, selectivity, and a detection limit of 720 ppb. The responsiveness of MoS2 nanochains to ammonia remained unchanged for 1 week.

Summary: A resistive sensor based on NiO/Ti3C2Tx sensitive nanocomposites was developed for NH3 detection in a natural environment. The addition of NiO nanoparticles significantly enhanced the gas-sensing response of pure Ti3C2Tx MXene to NH3 at room temperature, and improved the response and recovery time. The sensor also exhibited prospective and high selectivity to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as well as good repeatability and long-term stability.

Summary: A novel two-dimensional hexagonal mesoporous nickel oxide and titanium substituted nickel oxide nanosheets were synthesized and used as counter electrodes in dye-sensitized solar cells, showing excellent electrochemical and photovoltaic performance. The high performance of nickel oxide-based and 1-TNO-based counter electrodes can be attributed to the high specific surface area and mesoporous nature of the nanosheet structure.

Summary: This paper discusses the direct fabrication of ultrathin Ni(OH)2 nanosheets on substrates via a solvothermal process. The thickness and morphology of the nanosheets can be controlled by manipulating the ethanol content in the solvent. The 75% ethanol-based NiO gas sensor demonstrates ultrahigh acetone sensitivity, ultralow detection limit, good stability, and superior acetone selectivity. Low cost NiO nanosheets fabricated via a simple process could be considered as potential candidates for commercial acetone sensing applications.

Summary: NiO nanosheets were synthesized using a facile solvothermal method and used as gas sensors to analyze the exhaled biomarker of psychological stress, allyl mercaptan (AM) gas. MnO2 nanosheets were also synthesized onto the surfaces of the NiO nanosheets to enhance gas-sensing performance. The gas-sensing response of the NiO nanosheet sensor was found to be higher compared to the MnO2@NiO nanosheet sensor.

Summary: This study provides a comprehensive investigation into the early stage of copper electrodeposition from a choline chloride-urea deep eutectic solvent (DES), revealing that copper deposition can be directly performed from a DES containing a small amount of water using a single potentiostatic step technique. Theoretical modeling confirms the mechanism of direct electronucleation of copper nanoparticles in the DES, and kinetic parameters play a crucial role in controlling the morphology and chemical composition of the obtained nanoparticles, as verified by surface characterization techniques.
