Commercially available Nafion membranes were successfully modified by laminating the base membrane with high selectivity organic-inorganic hybrid materials. We showed the comprehensive performance of PEMFC improved a lot when Nafion ternary composite membrane was used in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). The present situation of Nafion ternary composite membranes were studied from three aspects: Nafion-inorganic-inorganic composite membranes; Nafion-organic-organic composite membranes and Nation-inorganic-organic composite membranes. The protons conductivity and methanol penetration of Nafion ternary composite membranes were investigated in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). The design principle, method of preparation, advantages and disadvantages, the prospect of Nation ternary composite membrane are described briefly also.
