Summary: The article suggests that ranking researchers on a platform can improve productivity, but it overlooks the possibility of previous resource allocation not being inefficient. The proposed solution shifts resources towards measurable metrics without understanding its long-term effects. Thus, considering potential trade-offs and the future benefits is important.

Summary: The characteristics of global beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacter cloacae, including distribution of beta-lactamase, sequence types (STs), and plasmid replicons, were analyzed. Almost all E. cloacae strains carried beta-lactamase encoding genes, with bla(CMH) and bla(ACT) being the most predominant bla(AmpC) genes. Various genotypes of carbapenem-hydrolyzing beta-lactamase (CH β Ls) were identified, with bla(VIM) and bla(KPC) being the most dominant. Diverse STs and plasmid replicons were also identified.

Summary: This study established an obesity model of C. elegans by feeding them Enterobacter cloacae combined with a high glucose diet. Lactobacillus pentosus MJM60383 showed good antagonistic activity against E. cloacae and significantly reduced lipid accumulation in C. elegans, making it a promising candidate for anti-obesity probiotics.

Summary: By genetically engineering the Enterobacter cloacae genome, the CL82 strain was constructed for the co-production of succinic acid and acetoin. CL82 showed high concentrations and productivities of succinic acid and acetoin from glucose, and could also utilize xylose and corncob hydrolysate for co-production. This engineering strategy provides a practical approach for simultaneous production of two commercial products using renewable feedstocks, reducing the cost of microbial fermentation.

Summary: The study confirmed the degradation mechanism of Lysobacter sp. CW239 towards ochratoxin A (OTA), highlighting the significant role of carboxypeptidase CP4 in the process. The experimental results supported the hypothesis that OTA is degraded by the joint action of multiple enzymes in CW239, as proposed earlier.

Summary: This study demonstrates that tannase enzyme treatment can reduce the formation of tea cream, improve the antioxidant activity of black tea, and enhance the sensory characteristics of tea. The results suggest that the tannase produced by E. cloacae 41 could be utilized to enhance the quality of both CTC and Kangra orthodox tea samples.

Summary: The study found that considering intraspecific trait variation can better predict the strength of competition. However, traits and competitive interactions may have a complex relationship, as traits in focal individuals may be both drivers and consequences of competition, making interpretation more challenging.

Summary: The convergence of MCR and carbapenemase genes in Enterobacter cloacae complex (ECC) is widespread and increasing. The study found a high prevalence of MCR-ECC and MCR-CREC worldwide, indicating frequent co-occurrence of mcr-9/10 and carbapenemase genes in ECC. Furthermore, epidemic plasmids were identified in ECC that contributed to the dissemination of mcr-9 globally.

Summary: This study evaluated the biofilm formation and antimicrobial resistance of Enterobacter cloacae complex and Candida parapsilosis co-isolated from a catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) patient. The bacteria showed multidrug resistance, including resistance to colistin and beta-lactams. The Candida parapsilosis exhibited resistance to fluconazole. The nature of biofilms varied depending on the material and the pathogens involved, and the distribution of microorganisms differed on the inner and outer surface of the central venous catheter.

Summary: Through targeted metabolomics analysis, 20 main small molecular organic acids (SMOAs) in rice root exudates were found to differ significantly between the control group and the 10 mg/L thiamethoxam-treated group. Among these, malic acid, citric acid, succinic acid, and proline were found to induce chemotactic response, swimming ability, and biofilm formation of Enterobacter cloacae TMX-6 in a dose-dependent manner. It was confirmed that the addition of these four compounds promoted the colonization of TMX-6. This study provides important insights for directional regulation of beneficial plant-microbe interactions.

Summary: MALDI-TOF MS is commonly used in clinical microbiology labs for pathogen identification, but faces limitations, especially in uncertain identification of ECC species like E. hormaechei. By utilizing an online database combined with high-performance MSI software, substantial improvements in species-level identification of ECC isolates can be achieved.
