Summary: This study compared the quality of life, physical activity, fear of COVID-19, and mental health in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and healthy individuals during the pandemic. It was found that CKD patients had worse quality of life and lower levels of physical activity compared to healthy individuals. These patients also had fear of COVID-19 and poor mental health. Therefore, psychosocial and physical activity interventions may be beneficial for both groups during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Summary: This study investigated the potential relationship between Macronutrients' quality and mental health and quality of life among Iranian adults. The results showed that higher protein quality index (PQI) was associated with lower risk of depressive symptoms and low-quality life. However, carbohydrate quality index (CQI) and fat quality index (FQI) were not related to depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Summary: This study examined changes in prognostic awareness among metastatic cancer patients in the last year of life and its association with anxiety, depression, and spiritual well-being. The results showed an increase in the proportion of patients with accurate prognostic awareness and a decrease in those with inaccurate awareness. However, a significant proportion of patients remained uncertain about their prognosis. Patients with accurate awareness reported worsened anxiety, depression, and spiritual well-being, while those uncertain about their prognosis reported worsened spiritual well-being.

Summary: The study found that spiritual well-being is associated with quality of life, anxiety, and depression in patients with gynaecological cancer. Patients with higher spiritual well-being tend to have better quality of life, lower anxiety, and depression. Providing more spiritual care, especially in combination with psychological counseling, can help improve the quality of life, alleviate symptoms, and reduce anxiety and depression for patients with gynaecological cancer.

Summary: This study found that psychosocial factors, such as perceived social support, social functioning, and self-image, are more strongly associated with depression, anxiety, and stress in the endometriosis population than pain and medical factors. The study highlights the need for interventions targeting psychological distress in this population, focusing on the broader impact of endometriosis beyond physical symptoms. However, the limitations of cross-sectional data and self-reported information call for further research to validate the findings.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence and risk factors of depression and anxiety in Chinese diabetic kidney disease (DKD) patients, and their impact on renal function, proteinuria, and quality of life (QOL). Results showed that 41.3% of DKD patients had symptoms of depression and 45.0% had symptoms of anxiety. Independent risk factors for depression included low education, physical inactivity, stroke, low serum albumin, CKD stage 3-4, macroalbuminuria, and poor QOL. Risk factors for anxiety included higher education, physical inactivity, diabetic retinopathy and neuropathy, low hemoglobin, CKD stage 3-4, and poor QOL. Depression and anxiety scores were negatively correlated with eGFR and QOL scores. They were also independent risk factors for DKD patients with CKD stage 3-4 and poor QOL. Early screening and intervention of psychopathological disorders is strongly recommended to improve the QOL and clinical outcomes of DKD patients.

CP patients with severe pain had more decrements in each PROMIS domain and a higher prevalence of clinically significant depression, anxiety, sleep disturbance, and physical disability. Similar results were noted for constant pain.
