Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Controversy exists regarding the role of dietary fat in breast cancer etiology. We investigated the association of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and the ratio of n-6 PUFAs to marine-derived n-3 PUFAs with breast cancer risk in the Shanghai Women's Health Study, a prospective cohort study including 72,571 cancer-free participants at baseline. Dietary fatty acid intake was determined using food frequency questionnaires. We used Cox proportional hazards analysis to estimate the relative risks (RRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for the association of breast cancer risk with dietary fatty acids consumption. In 583,998 person-years of follow-up, we identified 712 breast cancer cases. We found no association of breast cancer risk to dietary intake of linoleic acid, arachidonic acid, a-linolenic acid or marine-derived n-3 PUFA. We found a statistically significant interaction between n-6 PUFA intake, marine-derived n-3 PUFA intake and breast cancer risk (p = 0.008). Women with lower intake (the lowest tertile) of marine-derived n-3 PUFA and higher intake (the highest tertile) of n-6 PUFA had an increase risk for breast cancer (RR = 2.06; 95% CI = 1.27-3.34) compared to women with higher intake (the highest tertile) of marine-derived n-3 PUFAs and lower intake (the lowest tertile) of n-6 PUFAs after adjusting for potential confounders. The relative amounts of n-6 PUFA to marine-derived n-3 PUFAs may be more important for breast cancer risk than individual dietary amounts of these fatty acids.

Study on the influence of lateral and local rail deformation on the train-track interaction dynamics

Yan Xu, Caijin Yang, Weihua Zhang, Weidong Zhu, Wei Fan, Guiming Mei, Jian Mou

Summary: This paper studies the influence of lateral and local rail deformation on the train-track interaction dynamics in high-speed railways. A more realistic model that accurately and efficiently analyzes the influence of lateral and local rail deformation on the dynamics of train-track interaction is proposed. The risk of derailment and rail damage increases with the increasing amplitude of lateral and local rail deformation.

Theoretical optimization and experimental verification of a non-contact damper for high temperature superconducting Maglev systems

Haitao Li, Zigang Deng, Huan Huang, Jinbo Yu, Li Wang, Weihua Zhang

Summary: The high-temperature superconducting (HTS) maglev system has great potential for high-speed transportation, but it suffers from large amplitude vibrations. To address this issue, we designed an electromagnetic shunt damper (EMSD) that can attenuate vibrations without contact. Experimental results showed that the EMSD reduced the vibrations of the HTS maglev vehicle by more than 80% in the resonance region, significantly enhancing the dynamic characteristics of the system.

Enhanced spectral coherence and its application to bearing fault diagnosis

Yao Cheng, Bingyan Chen, Weihua Zhang

Summary: Spectral coherence is a dedicated method for characterizing the cyclostationarity of bearing faults. However, the vibration signal produced by complex mechanical systems often exhibits mixed cyclostationarity, which presents a challenge for fault identification. To address this issue, an enhanced spectral coherence method is proposed in this study.

Summary: This study focuses on the relationships between DNA sequence variation and DNA methylation, using blood samples from Europeans and South Asians. The findings reveal numerous SNP-CpG associations (meQTL) that are functionally relevant and associated with gene expression, metabolic variation, and clinical traits. Molecular interaction and colocalization analyses identified regulatory pathways linking meQTL loci to phenotypic variation.

An adaptive tracking control method for the all-wheel-driving and active-steering articulated vehicle with n-units

Dehua Zhang, Caijin Yang, Weihua Zhang, Yao Cheng

Summary: An adaptive tracking control method is proposed for achieving running control of all-wheel-driving and active-steering articulated vehicles with multiple units. The method involves real-time target trajectory generation and an adaptive tracking control system, which enables accurate trajectory tracking and coordinated movement for the vehicles. Simulation results show excellent tracking control performance and the method is compared with different control methods to demonstrate its effectiveness.

Diagnostic analysis of environmental factors affecting the severity of traffic crashes: From the perspective of pedestrian-vehicle and vehicle-vehicle collisions

Kun Wang, Weihua Zhang, Lai Jin, Zhongxiang Feng, Dianchen Zhu, Haozhe Cong, Haiyang Yu

Summary: Factors such as visibility, road type, road surface condition, and road alignment have significant impacts on the severity of pedestrian-vehicle collisions and vehicle-vehicle collisions under low-visibility conditions. Collisions on highways, poor road pavement, and non-straight-line sections are more likely to result in fatal or serious injuries. The study findings can help in developing more effective strategies to reduce casualties in traffic crashes under low-visibility conditions.

Summary: The hole-conductor-free printable mesoscopic perovskite solar cells based on inorganic scaffolds have excellent stability and low manufacturing cost. By reinforcing the built-in electric field (BEF), carrier transport is improved and carrier recombination losses are significantly reduced, resulting in higher open-circuit voltages and power conversion efficiency. This strategy provides a new approach to fabricating efficient printable perovskite solar cells.

Summary: By conducting genome-wide association studies (GWAS) on ancestrally diverse populations, we identified 237 loci associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and further fine-mapped these loci. The majority of T2D associations were found to be driven by a single variant. In addition, our study showed that genetic risk scores derived from ancestrally diverse populations can enhance the transferability of T2D prediction across different populations.

Summary: South Asians have a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes (T2D). Through a genomewide association meta-analysis, researchers identified 21 novel genetic loci associated with T2D, which are linked to adiposity and glucose metabolism. A polygenic risk score based on South Asian-derived summary statistics can predict T2D risk.
