Summary: Recently, convolutional neural networks have made significant advancements in hand pose estimation from RGB images. However, accurately inferring occluded keypoints remains challenging. To address this, we propose a new network that leverages contextual information and relationships between different levels of features to learn rich representations of keypoints. Our network, consisting of GlobalNet and RegionalNet, uses a feature pyramid structure to roughly locate hand joints and a four-stage cross-scale feature fusion network to refine keypoint representation learning. Experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches on two public datasets, STB and RHD.

Summary: Inertial piezoelectric actuators based on the impact principle have attracted attention in precision positioning applications. However, the control strategy to optimize their motion states and output performances is yet to be studied. This work proposes a novel inertial impact piezoelectric actuator with adjustable angle vibrators. Static and dynamic analysis, along with experimental results, verify the theories and reveal the effects of vibrator angle on resolution and velocity. The control strategy successfully optimizes the actuator's motion state and output performances by adjusting its inclination angle.

Summary: Coal-bearing strata in the Transitional Upper Carboniferous Shanxi Formation in the Qinshui Basin have been proven to be mixed unconventional gas-bearing reservoirs forming a multi-superimposed gas system. The pore networks in high-rank coal, shale, and tight sandstone reservoirs from the Shanxi Formation were compared using different experimental methods. The results showed significant genetic and structural differences in pore types, morphology, abundance, and proportion, reflecting strong heterogeneity characteristics. Coal and tight sandstone reservoirs provide important spaces for adsorbed and free gas, while continuously developed shales of a specific thickness often divide the superimposed gas-bearing system.

Summary: A new prefabricated seismic isolation system called FPB-CFST was proposed to enhance the mechanical performance and speed up the construction process of the isolation layer. Unlike traditional FPB-Pier systems, the CFST was used as the main support structure, with a spherical curvature surface (SCS) attached to allow sliding of the superstructure. A construction procedure for the FPB-CFST was proposed and various FPB-CFST specimens with different SCS radii were fabricated. Experimental investigations were conducted on the axial local compressive and compressive shear behaviors of the FPB-CFST. Friction coefficient tests and evaluations on the effects of sliding velocity and equivalent pressure were also performed.

Summary: The effects of leaf economic spectrum (LES) and nutrient resorption on litter decomposition temperature sensitivity (Q(10)) were investigated in 15 subtropical woody species. The results showed that Q(10) values were correlated with LES, with resource-conservative species having higher Q(10) values. Leaf nitrogen concentration, C:N ratio, and lignin:N ratio were correlated with Q(10), while leaf phosphorus and lignin concentrations, specific leaf area, and C:P ratio showed no relationships. Also, there was no correlation between LES and species-specific nitrogen and phosphorus resorption efficiency (NRE and PRE) with Q(10). These findings suggest an association between plant functional features and forest carbon dynamics in a warmer future.

Summary: In this paper, the electrical contact sliding wear and tribology properties of three kinds of surface coating (gold, silver, and tin) terminals at low temperature (-20 & DEG;C) were studied. It was found that an increase in current leads to large fluctuations in the coefficient of friction and increases the wear degree on the terminal surface. The surface gold-coating terminals mainly experience adhesive wear, the surface of silver-coating terminals mainly experience abrasive wear, and the tin-coating terminals mainly experience adhesive wear and a small amount of abrasive wear during the friction test.

Summary: In the past decades, various stimuli-responsive materials have been developed for droplet manipulation, with light being a flexible option for contactless control in three-dimensional space. This study presents a synthesis of plasmonic hybrid microgels through electrostatic heterocoagulation, which are effective stabilizers of oil-in-water Pickering emulsions. Laser irradiation on Au nanoparticles induces a cascade effect to thermally responsive microgels, causing microgel desorption and emulsion destabilization. The localized heating from a focused laser leads to the formation of air-in-oil-in-water emulsions, capable of mimicking natural microswimmers and achieving on-demand droplet merging and chemical communication.

Summary: Urban road green belts are crucial for improving the urban environment and protecting public health. This study uses Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to optimize the planning and design methods of Urban Green Space (UGS) in urban road green belts. The sensitivity-based self-organizing LSTM model outperforms LSTM, XGBoost, and SVR, with lower errors in RMSE, MAE, and MAPE. Different plant community configurations in the improved LSTM model have distinct effects on reducing PM 2.5 concentrations, with multi-layered green space and high canopy density showing better impact than single-layer green space with low canopy density. Evaluating the reduction function of green road spaces on PM 2.5, the study reveals that green space significantly reduces PM 2.5 under zero or slight pollution conditions (PM 2.5 < 100 μg/m³). The proposed model can aid UGS planning by identifying spatial morphology indicators that impact PM 2.5 reduction, facilitating the formulation of appropriate green space planning strategies.
