Summary: The membrane-associated accessory protein (MAAP) is identified as a novel viral egress factor that promotes the secretion of AAV serotypes. MAAP contains a cationic amphipathic domain critical for AAV secretion. Restoring MAAP expression can rescue the secretion defect in various AAV serotypes with mutated start sites.

Summary: In this study, a ultrasensitive, sequential fluorescence in situ hybridization (USeqFISH) method was developed for spatial transcriptomic profiling of endogenous and viral RNA. The method allows investigation of the transduction and cell subtype biases of different AAV variants, as well as profiling of pooled regulatory cargos in AAV genomes. USeqFISH also shows potential applications in in situ AAV profiling and multimodal single-cell analysis in non-human primates.

Summary: The objective of this study was to enhance the water and fungal resistance of paper by using a bio-based coating made from chitosan. The surface roughness of the paper was controlled by modified calcium carbonate particles, which improved the water resistance. The addition of particles counteracted the hydrophilic nature of chitosan, resulting in increased wetting time and liquid water resistance. Additionally, it was found that the antifungal activity of chitosan was enhanced by a possible synergic effect with bicarbonate ions from the mineral particles.

Summary: Crosslinking affects the mechanical behavior and tissue metabolism of collagen-based tissues. Aging and diabetes alter the crosslinking type and density, thus changing tissue properties. High-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking and advanced-glycation end-products result in uniform deformation under daily activity, while low-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking does not. High-connectivity model displays more sliding, while AGEs induce instability in structures near the binding sites.

Summary: The potential of multi-layer nanoemulsions for improving the cellular uptake, antioxidant activity, and in vitro bioaccessibility of alpha-tocopherol was examined. The results showed that the multi-layer nanoemulsions significantly enhanced the cellular uptake and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol compared to free coumarin 6. Furthermore, the use of chitosan and dextran sulfate as wall materials in the multi-layer nanoemulsions led to even higher cellular uptake, in vitro bioaccessibility, and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol.
