Summary: The study revealed that primary isolated hypertriglyceridemia (PIH) is associated with increased cardiovascular risk, particularly in terms of incident coronary heart disease events. Although the association with coronary heart disease remained significant even after adjusting for conventional risk factors, there was no significant association with cerebrovascular disease or peripheral artery disease. Awareness and control of PIH were found to be relatively low despite its prevalence.

Summary: The study investigated the associations between coronary artery calcium (CAC) and carotid plaque in asymptomatic individuals, and their relationship with predicted CHD risk and incident events. Carotid plaque was found to be strongly associated with the presence and extent of CAC, and it can predict future CHD events, particularly in females.

Summary: The study found that increased high-frequency hearing loss was associated with a dose-response relationship with elevated risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, while the association with coronary heart disease and speech-frequency hearing loss was not significant.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of mildly elevated hsCRP in patients with suspected ACS. The results showed a positive relationship between hsCRP levels and mortality, beyond the predictive value of troponin. This suggests the potential utility of hsCRP as a prognostic marker and in selecting patients for novel inflammation-targeting treatments.

Summary: In a study of a general Chinese population, prolonged QTc interval was found to be associated with an increased risk of stroke and combined cardiovascular disease, but not with coronary heart disease. The findings suggest that baseline QTc interval may be an important predictor of future cardiovascular events in adults without prior cardiovascular disease.

Summary: The awareness on the relationship between dysmenorrhea and ischemic heart disease (IHD) in women is insufficient. This study utilized a large database in Taiwan to evaluate this relationship. The results showed that women with dysmenorrhea have a higher risk of developing IHD, especially for older patients and patients with comorbidity such as hypertension and arrhythmia.

Summary: The study found that both current and lifetime night shift work were associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), regardless of genetic vulnerability. Participants with over 10 years of night shift work experience and an average frequency of 3-8 night shifts per month had a higher AF risk compared to shift workers who never worked nights.
