Summary: The efficiency of the flatness actuator is crucial for maintaining the quality of strip shape and microstructure properties in commercial strip steel. However, the fluctuation in the thermal crown of the work rolls during the cold rolling process significantly impacts strip flatness quality. Obtaining real-time updates on the thermal crown alterations of the work rolls presents notable difficulties.

Summary: In this study, a 6-pass hot-rolling process followed by air cooling is simulated using a coupled multi-scale approach. The microstructure evolution during recrystallization and phase transformation is visualized, showing the influence of various parameters on the mechanisms involved. The simulated final microstructure matches reasonably well with experimental results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the simulation approach.

Summary: A new design method for an intermediate die is proposed in this study to reduce unfilled defects in the manufacturing process of cross-roller guides. The method minimizes the radial velocity variation in the deformation zone of the drawing die. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving the dimensional accuracy of the product shape.

Summary: This paper presents a novel three-dimensional characterization method for studying the effects of roll surface wear on texture transfer in skin-pass rolling. Through integrating the interactions of microscale elastic and plastic deformations, the study predicts the changes in surface textures caused by wear. The research reveals that the roughness of rolled metal strips decreases gradually due to roll surface wear, with rolling force, relative sliding, and rolling speed significantly affecting wear at the roll-strip interface.

Summary: The study presents results of investigating a skew rolling process for elongated axisymmetric parts, which has not been previously studied. It includes FEM modelling of the process, proposing a design solution for a CNC skew rolling mill, and presenting performance test results. The experiments show that the proposed skew rolling method has considerable potential.

Summary: The quality of discrete element simulations relies on the correct choice of material contact parameters. This study demonstrates the use of artificial neural networks to obtain material contact parameters that replicate the behavior of particles with complex shapes. By utilizing dynamic angle of repose and void fraction as input parameters, and static and rolling friction as output parameters, the neural network successfully predicts the static angle of repose for octahedral and cubic shape particles.

Summary: This work presents an innovative approach for analysing sensor data for cross-sectional area measurement of hot rod and wire steel, and approximating the influence of longitudinal tensile forces on forward slip. The method uses frequency spectroscopy of the cross-sectional area to obtain information from roll imprints. By evaluating measurement data from multiple sites and sensors, the reliability and reproducibility of the measurement can be assessed, and the method can be applied to different rolling blocks. Additionally, a mathematical model is presented to identify possible causes for specific characteristics in the frequency spectrum of the cross-sectional area.

Summary: The shape effects of TEG mounted vented cavities on the performance characteristic during alumina-water nanofluid convection are numerically assessed. L-shaped cavity achieves the highest hot side temperature, followed by U, T, and R-shaped cavities. The power increases with higher opening ratio and Reynolds number.

Summary: In this study, the vibration instability of the nonlinear dynamic system of the rolls considering the structural clearance was theoretically investigated. The dynamic rolling force model under the influence of the roll grinding deviation and the stability of the deformation zone was established. The horizontal and vertical direction coupling dynamic model of the work roll considering the structural clearance was also established, and the nonlinear dynamic equation was solved numerically. The simulation results showed nonlinear vibration characteristics of the system, which were consistent with the test results.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel roll bending process called cross-shear roll bending, which utilizes the warping effect to manufacture continuously changeable curvature tubular sections with increased strength. Experiments show that the curvature of the sections can be controlled by regulating the circumferential speed differential rate and the thickness reduction rate.

Summary: The influence of electropulsing parameters on the rolling force, microstructure, and mechanical properties of AZ31 strips processed by EPR was investigated. A double grain refinement mechanism, combining static recrystallization refinement and dynamic recrystallization refinement, was proposed. An innovative method for producing AZ31 ultrathin strip with excellent properties was established and verified. The technology of EPR with high current density shows great potential for improving the plastic formability of hardly-deformed metals.
