Mathematical programming approach to optimize material flow in an AGV-based flexible jobshop manufacturing system with performance analysis

An automated manufacturing system (AMS) is a complex network of processing, inspecting, and buffering nodes connected by system of transportation mechanisms. For an AMS, it is desirable to be capable to increase or decrease the output with the rise and fall of demand. Such specifications show the complexity of decision making in the field of AMSs and the need for concise and accurate modeling methods. Therefore, in this paper, a flexible jobshop automated manufacturing system is proposed to optimize the material flow. The flexibility is on the multi-shops of the same type and also multiple products that can be produced. An automated guided vehicle is applied for material handling. The objective is to optimize the material flow regarding the demand fluctuations and machine specifications. An illustrative example is presented to test the validity of the proposed mathematical model.

Does domestic tourism influence COVID-19 cases and deaths?

Summary: The study found that countries with higher levels of domestic travels experienced higher levels of COVID-19 cases and deaths during the first six months of the pandemic, but the correlation decreased from July to December 2020. Theoretically, domestic tourism may act as a vector of virus spread during the early stages of a pandemic.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between climate change beliefs, personal environmental norms, and environmentally conscious behavior, and investigates how environmental identity mediates the relationship between climate change beliefs and environmentally conscious behavior. The findings suggest a strong positive relationship between climate change beliefs, personal environmental norms, and environmentally conscious behavior. The study also highlights the importance of personal environmental norms in driving environmentally conscious behavior, highlighting their role as being stronger than climate change beliefs.

The moderating role of religion on tourist spending

Summary: This study found a significant positive relationship between tourists' social motivations and their spending on cultural, nature, and leisure experiences, as well as a significant negative relationship between nature and ego status motivations and tourist spending on similar experiences. The relationships were moderated by religious affiliation. This research contributes to an unknown area of tourism research and provides evidence on how different factors relate to various types of tourist spending.

Anthropocentric, biospheric and egobiocentric environmental values and green product purchase intention: The mediating effect of environmental identity

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between environmental values and green product purchase intention, and explores the mediating role of environmental identity. The findings show that egobiocentric values have the strongest influence on environmental identity, followed by anthropocentric values, while biospheric values do not affect environmental identity. While environmental identity fully mediates the relationship between anthropocentric and egobiocentric values and green product purchase intention, it does not mediate the relationship between biospheric values and green product purchase intention.

Self-employment and Life Satisfaction: The Moderating Role of Perceived Importance of Family, Friends, Leisure Time, and Work

Summary: The purpose of this study is to examine the moderating role of perceived importance of family, friends, leisure time and work on the link between self-employment and life satisfaction. The results show that a higher level of perceived importance of family, friends, and leisure time reduces life satisfaction of self-employed individuals, while the perceived importance of work does not play a moderating role.

Rough DT2R2ML for renewable energy supplier selection in the presence of big data

Summary: Supplier selection is a significant problem in supply chain management, involving concurrent decision-making on key performance indicators based on multi-dimensional data. Recent studies have examined the supplier selection problem in various applied cases, with a focus on a range of criteria. This problem becomes more pronounced in industries with high levels of investment, such as the renewable energy sector. This article presents a new method that encompasses all relevant indices for effective supplier selection. The proposed algorithm utilizes decision tree (DT) indices to group criteria and sub-criteria, and uses a machine learning (RML) approach to handle uncertain data through rough comparisons and weighing. The method also includes a transformation (T) step to obtain crisp values and a ranking (R) of suppliers. A case study on renewable energy supplier selection demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method, particularly in handling big data through machine learning techniques. The article also discusses the managerial implications of this method as decision support.

Predictors of consumers' behaviour to recycle end-of-life garments in Australia

Summary: This study applies and extends the predictors within the theory of planned behaviour (TPB) to understand Australian consumers' behaviour towards recycling end-of-life garments. The results show positive relationships between the factors explored and support all the hypotheses. The findings have theoretical and managerial implications, providing insights into the factors influencing consumers' recycling behaviour, extending the TPB, calling for marketing campaigns to educate consumers, suggesting the provision of textile collection bins, and highlighting the need for policy reform.

A Joint Optimization Model for Production Scheduling and Preventive Maintenance Interval

Summary: Machine maintenance in production is crucial for preventing machine failure and maintaining production efficiency. An integrated schedule for production and maintenance is necessary. This paper discusses a parallel machine scheduling problem with individual maintenance operations, formulates a mathematical model, and proposes a branch and bound algorithm for optimization. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the mathematical model and the efficiency of the adapted algorithm in comparison with Gams optimization software.
