Summary: The design of efficient and safe gene delivery vehicles remains a major challenge for gene therapy. Metal complexes with high affinity for nucleic acids are emerging as an attractive option for gene delivery systems. Certain metallohelices have been discovered to act as nonviral DNA delivery vectors capable of mediating efficient gene transfection, forming globular DNA particles that protect the DNA from degradation, and successfully being processed by cells.

Summary: The optimization of the reactivity of hydroxyl radicals on WO3 via facet tuning led to efficient production of ethylene glycol from PEC methane conversion. The surface-bound (OH)-O-. on {010} facets showed the highest reactivity, resulting in superior PEC methane conversion efficiency for WO3 with the highest {010} facet ratio. Methanol was confirmed as the main intermediate for ethylene glycol production through reactive (OH)-O-. attack.

Summary: In this study, alloy tetrahexahedral (THH) PdRh nanocrystals with tunable composition enclosed by {11 4 0} facets were successfully prepared by an electrochemical square-wave potential method. The as-prepared PdRh nanocrystals exhibit high catalytic activity for ethylene glycol electrooxidation, with Pd86.9Rh13.1 NCs showing the highest catalytic activity. The introduction of Rh in the high-index facets enhances the capability of cleaving the C-C bond, demonstrating the promising potential of high-index facets with alloy electronic structure for the preparation of high performance electrocatalysts.

Summary: Laminins are crucial structural proteins in the ECM that bind growth factors and play tissue-specific roles. A new LM-PEG hydrogel platform inspired by Matrigel offers controlled stiffness and degradability, enabling specific targeting of tissues through GFs presented at ultralow doses. This platform demonstrates the potential to induce stem cell differentiation and promote neural cell growth in a synthetic, reproducible 3D microenvironment mimicking the native ECM.

Summary: A facile one-pot ethyleneglycol-mediated solvothermal synthesis of orthorhombic Co2P with particle size around 20-30 nm was reported as an efficient catalyst for both HER and OER. Co2P showed low overpotentials and long-term stability in acidic and alkaline medium for HER, as well as an overpotential of 364 mV at 10 mA cm(-2) current density for OER. XPS analysis confirmed the formation of amorphous cobalt oxyhydroxide (CoOOH) as an intermediate during the OER process.

Summary: In this study, a green reaction route for the preparation of BiVO4/g-C3N4 composite was constructed using an acetic acid and reusable ethylene glycol system combined with the microwave method. The prepared photocatalyst exhibited high performance in removing pesticides and dyes from agricultural and urban runoff. The establishment of the ethylene glycol and acetic acid system provides a new perspective for the replacement of strong acids in the preparation of BiVO4-based photocatalysts.

Summary: This study found that social relationship-related quality of life is low among Asian inpatients with severe mental illness pre-discharge, and there is a weak correlation between functioning, quality of life, and symptoms. The study suggests that interventions beyond traditional focus on psychiatric symptoms, targeting social relationships, employment status, and physical health problems, may be needed to improve functioning levels in recently discharged individuals with severe mental illness.

Summary: In a rapidly changing health and care landscape, it is important to acknowledge the need for integrated care with a patient-centered approach. Unfortunately, care systems are often fragmented and focused on the condition rather than the patient. To address this issue, the Science Committee of the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions of the European Society of Cardiology has issued a statement on integrated care for those with cardiovascular disease. This statement outlines the evidence, challenges, and recommendations for practice, education, and research.

The study found that polyrotaxanes can remove cholesterol from NPC patient cells, and the endcapping and threading efficiency of polyrotaxanes are directly related to cholesterol mobilization. Additionally, improving the solubility of the compounds can significantly enhance cholesterol mobilization.

Summary: Current literature suggests that PFAS carbon chain length may affect its toxicity, and statistical modeling can be used to predict toxicity and improve the efficiency of PFAS regulation development. In this study, data analysis and predictive modeling were conducted, showing significant differences in mean values for 11 out of 15 health outcomes. Simple linear regressions were used for two health outcomes, yielding statistically significant results. Comparison between the results of an actual dataset and a theoretically generated dataset indicated no significant differences in the mean values of the two health outcomes. Therefore, predictive statistical modeling can be used to predict health outcomes for PFAS exposure.

Summary: Accurate characterization of capsid species is crucial for viral vector-based gene therapies and vaccines. The current standard method, sedimentation velocity analytical ultracentrifugation (SV-AUC), is often size-limited and requires specialized software for analysis. The density gradient equilibrium AUC (DGE-AUC) provides a simplified and high-resolution method for separating biologics of different densities. It offers improvements in sensitivity and can be used with larger viral particles. This serotype-agnostic method enables intuitive interpretation and analysis without the need for specialized software.
