Summary: Membrane technology has great potential in chiral separation, but its selectivity is limited by the thickness of the active layer. In this study, layered double hydroxides were synthesized to fabricate chiral selective membranes. By increasing the number of separation stages through heat post-treatment, the enantiomeric excess value was enhanced.

Summary: This article provides a systematic summary of the interaction between layered hydroxides (LHs) and adsorbed anions, and discusses their chemical composition, structure, synthesis methods, and characterization techniques. Although progress is slow in exploring the intercalation mechanism, possible mechanisms are inferred through numerous examples.

Summary: Intercalation of carboxylate into layered zinc hydroxides can be achieved directly at room temperature, resulting in crystalline, soluble, and functionalized materials. This direct synthesis method leads to high yields of exfoliated monolayer nanosheets, with high solubilities in alcohols and water. By altering the carboxylate ligand, functional groups suitable for post-synthetic modification or for detection by fluorescence are also introduced.

Summary: In this study, organo-inorganic nanohybrids LHGd-MTSPP with enzyme-like activity were prepared by in situ intercalation of anionic 5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin and its complexes with Zn(II) and Pd(II) into gadolinium layered hydroxide (LHGd). The intercalation of free base TSPP porphyrin into LHGd preserved the radical scavenging properties of the product, while the samples containing Zn(II) and Pd(II) complexes exhibited dose-dependent prooxidant activity.

Summary: Antimony pollution has attracted global attention due to its potential toxicity and carcinogenicity. In this study, chloride intercalated Ni-Al layered double hydroxide (Ni-Al LDH) with a good laminated structure was synthesized by co-precipitation and ion exchange. The adsorption performance of Ni-Al LDH for Sb(V) was investigated for the first time through batch experiments. The results showed that Ni-Al LDH had high antimony removal rate and good regeneration performance under the optimum reaction conditions.

Summary: The research demonstrated the preferential adsorption of anionic dyes by the S-Mg/Al LDH composite, and multiple models were used to describe the adsorption behavior of organic dyes on the composite. The adsorption process was found to be spontaneous and exothermic.

Summary: Deep desulfurization of ppm-level secondary heavy mercaptan from hydrotreated FCC gasoline is critical due to the increasingly stringent limits on sulfur content in fuel. Zn layered hydroxide salts (Zn LHS) adsorbents with high dispersion of Zn bronzes were developed by co-precipitation method and investigated for the reactive adsorptive desulfurization of heavy mercaptan from gasoline. The intercalation of acetate anions (Zn-Ac-) into Zn LHS adsorbent significantly improved the adsorption capacity and selectivity for mercaptan removal.

Summary: The effects of synthesis conditions on the structure of tetrathiotungstate intercalated NiAl layered double hydroxides were investigated. It was found that the crystallinity of the final product depends on the initial pH value and exchange temperature, while the interlayer distance is mainly affected by the exchange temperature and drying temperature.

Summary: Mg-Al layered double hydroxides with MoS42-intercalated and magnetic modification by Fe3O4 were synthesized to capture and separate heavy metals from soil. The intercalated MoS42- significantly improved the removal efficiency of heavy metals, and the magnetic materials facilitated their separation from the soil. The removal kinetics of heavy metals followed the intraparticle diffusion model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model.

Summary: Polydopamine-coated phosphate-intercalated Mg-Fe layered double hydroxides (PDA/phos-LDH) were fabricated for capturing U(VI). The introduction of phosphate and PDA significantly increased the removal amount for U(VI) due to increased functional groups. The highest removal amount of PDA/phos-LDH reached 912.0 mg/g within 60 min, and remained as high as 81.4% after 5 repeated uses.

Summary: The application of MoS2 as a cocatalyst in wastewater treatment is important, but its efficiency is limited by agglomeration and insufficient interaction with the catalyst. In this study, the combination of layered double hydroxide (LDH) catalyst and MoS2 cocatalyst achieved efficient removal of organic pollutants by peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation. The MoS2 intercalated LDH composite samples (MLDH) exhibited excellent phenol degradation performance, with a significantly higher rate constant compared to other samples. The research results provide possibilities and suggestions for creating highly effective catalysts for wastewater cleanup.

Summary: This work investigates the self-assembly of corrosion inhibitor-intercalated layered double hydroxides in cementitious systems. The research reveals the impacts of inorganic and organic corrosion inhibitors on the intercalation chemistry and chloride-induced transformation of LDHs. The results show that direct admixing of inhibitors results in the spontaneous formation of inhibitors-intercalated LDHs, regardless of binder chemistry. The incorporation of inhibitors has little influence on chloride binding capacity but affects chloride resistance through pore structure modification.

Summary: In this study, sulfamic acid-intercalated MgAl-LDH (SA-LDH) was prepared and incorporated into polyamide 11 (PA11) to enhance flame retardancy and mechanical properties. The results showed that SA-LDH could effectively decrease heat release rate, induce the formation of new crystal forms, and improve compatibility between SA-LDH and PA11.
