Summary: The article discusses the use of novel aqueous polymer formulations to stabilize sand and soil against wind erosion and retain water. Results show that PAA#-based crusts have higher mechanical strength compared to linear PAA, making them more resistant to mechanical loads. The PAA#-based crusts also have a higher water retention capacity and are not affected by high air speeds, making them promising for anti-erosion and water-saving formulations.

Summary: Viscoelastic surfactant (VES) was developed to enhance the stability of foam during foam flooding process. The VES formulation was optimized by investigating foam properties and the oil-water interfacial tension (IFT). The VES strengthened air foams showed excellent anti-gas channeling ability and high oil recovery efficiency in heterogeneous reservoirs.

Summary: This study investigates the application of erucic acid amidopropyl-betaine (EDAB) and sodium alkyl sulfate (SDS) in constructing worm-like micelle systems for enhanced oil recovery. The results demonstrate that under specific conditions, the EDAB/SDS system exhibits viscoelastic fluid behavior, forming longer linear worm-like micelles and larger network structures. The rheological properties of the EDAB/SDS system are influenced by pH, temperature, and salt concentration.

Summary: This study investigates the seed-mediated growth pathway from the icosahedral [Au25(SR)18]- cluster to the bi-icosahedral Au38(SR)24 and Au44(SR)26 clusters in gold nanoclusters synthesis. The atomic structures of three key intermediate clusters are predicted based on the 2e- hopping mechanism and the theoretically simulated UV-Vis spectra match well with experimental curves. The size growth pathway from the [Au25(SR)18]- cluster to Au38(SR)24 and Au44(SR)26 clusters is determined based on the predicted intermediate cluster structures.

Summary: The seed-mediated growth pathway from the icosahedral [Au-25(SR)(18)]- cluster to the bi-icosahedral Au-38(SR)(24) and Au-44(SR)(26) clusters was studied based on the two-electron (2e-) hopping mechanism. Three key intermediate clusters, [Au-29(SR)(20)]-, [Au-33(SR)(22)]-, and Au-41(SR)(25), were predicted using the 2e--unit decomposition strategy. The size growth pathway from the eight-electron (8e(-)) [Au-25(SR)(18)]- cluster to 14-electron (14e(-)) Au-38(SR)(24) and 18(-)electron (18e(-)) Au-44(SR)(26) clusters was determined based on the predicted intermediate cluster structures.

Summary: A combination of a phosphinidene precursor, B(C6F5)(3), and 4-ethynyltoluene produced the FLP addition product, Et2N(C14H10)PC(Tol)=CH(B(C6F5)(3))2. Compound 2 reacted with halides, pseudo halides, or Me3SiSPh, providing an easy method for synthesizing salts of anionic phosphines, while the reaction with PEt3 resulted in the zwitterionic species, Et3PCH=C(SiMe3)P(NEt2)C(Tol)=CHB(C6F5)(3)8. This latter species reacted with an alkyne, yielding a phosphine donor with both olefin linked cationic and anionic substituents.

Summary: Experiments revealed the formation of hybrid wormlike micelles with significant viscosity under the joint action of zwitterionic surfactants and sodium dodecyl sulfate, primarily due to the electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between the two molecules. Additionally, the longitudinal growth of wormlike micelles also contributed to viscosity enhancement, while shear-induced alignment of wormlike micelles was identified as the major cause of shear-thickening.

Summary: This study sampled and analyzed soil and groundwater from an AFFF-impacted site, finding that PFAS concentrations were generally higher at depth than near the surface. In FTA soil, zwitterionic and cationic compounds were the major components of total PFAS mass. The composition of PFAS class, chain length, and structural isomers changed with depth and distance from the FTA, suggesting in situ transformation and differential transport.

Summary: The donating abilities of anionic ligands X can be easily compared and ranked by C-13 NMR spectroscopy. Downfield shifts of the carbene atom indicate stronger donors, while upfield shifts are observed for weaker ones. This new "HEPx" methodology is demonstrated with 34 anionic X-type ligands.

Summary: A pH-responsive zwitterionic/anionic surfactant system was proposed to improve crude oil recovery and achieve rapid demulsification of produced fluid. By adjusting the pH value, the interaction between surfactants could be controlled, allowing effective modulation of emulsification and demulsification states. The study demonstrated that varying the molar ratio of EAB to SDS and pH values could significantly impact the stability and droplet size of the emulsion.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that PAEs can behave as electron equivalents at small size and low DNA grafting density, however, the polydispersity in the number of DNA strands on the surfaces of these NPs limits the structural uniformity and tailorability of NP-based EEs. By assembling molecularly precise EEs with complementary NP-based PAEs, three distinct metallic phases can be formed, demonstrating that molecular-based EEs can influence specific phase formation.

Summary: The structure of MTPs is determined by specific crystallographic features, and their formation pathways include growth from multiply twinned seeds or stepwise formation of new twin boundaries on single-crystalline seeds. Recent studies have utilized in situ transmission electron microscopy to provide real-time evidence for both pathways, which will aid in the design of robust MTP syntheses. Further research on the structural evolution and energetics of nanoparticles is needed for a complete understanding of MTP formation pathways.
