Summary: Two new coordination polymers, CdCP1 and CdCP2, were synthesized by solvothermal reaction between cadmium salts, 1,10-phenanthroline, and different ligands in polar solvents. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction was used to determine their structures, and they were further characterized by various analysis techniques. Both CdCP1 and CdCP2 showed high dielectric constants at room temperature, indicating their potential as gate dielectrics in electronic devices. The interaction between metal carboxylate chains and polar solvent molecules contributed to the high dielectric constants in both coordination polymers.

Summary: Two complexes were obtained through the reaction of MnCl2 with different ligands, which were well characterized by various analytical methods. The structure of complex 1 includes 2D layers and a 3D supramolecular network, while complex 2 exhibits a self-threading structure and 2D layers. The magnetic studies indicate that the magnetic interactions in both complexes are mainly due to antiferromagnetic coupling.

Summary: Two seven-coordinate Co(II)-nitrate complexes, [Co(tmpdc)(NO3)(2)] (1) and [Co(tmpdt)(NO3)(2)]center dot CH3CN (2), with tridentate neutral ligands tmpdc or tmpdt have been synthesized. Single X-ray diffraction reveals that the coordination geometries of the two complexes are significantly different when the two donor atoms of the tridentate ligand change from oxygen to sulfur. Complex 1 is a capped octahedral while complex 2 is a pentagonal bipyramid. Magnetic measurements and electron paramagnetic resonance indicate the anisotropic S = 3/2 spin ground state of the Co(II) ions with easy-plane anisotropy for both complexes. Frequency- and temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility studies show slow magnetic relaxation for both complexes under applied fields.
