Summary: The study found that the two new phenanthroline-based ligand ruthenium complexes show good performance in interacting with DNA, with complex 2 demonstrating higher DNA affinity and photocleavage activity. The complexes showed no toxicity towards tumor cells in the dark, but demonstrated obvious photocytotoxicities, with complex 2 exhibiting large phototherapeutic indices towards HeLa cells. These complexes may act as DNA intercalators, DNA photocleavers, and photocytotoxic agents.

Summary: A new method using iron(III) acetylacetonate and visible light has been described to efficiently achieve oxidative ring opening of cyclic ethers and acetals. This approach enables the functionalization of relatively inert cyclic ethers into useful synthetic intermediates through photocatalytic radical chemistry. The study also highlights the potential of using underexplored iron complexes in visible-light photochemical reactions, demonstrating that simple Fe(III) complexes can initiate redox processes from (LMCT)-L-4 excited states.

Summary: Mononuclear Sm(III) complexes with luminous and conducting behavior were synthesized using fluorinated organic chromophoric moiety and heteroaromatic Lewis bases. Spectroscopic analysis showed that diketone and coligand were attached to Sm(III) metal ion via oxygen (-O) and nitrogen (-N) donor atom, respectively. The optical and electronic band gap data suggested the conducting character of the complexes. The absorption patterns exhibited broad bands, and upon UV irradiation, the emission patterns showed characteristic peaks in the visible region. The CIE color coordinates confirmed the luminescent nature of the complexes in the orange-red region, indicating their potential in producing optoelectronic materials.

Summary: The study investigates the effect of substituents on the interaction between Et-Tol-DAPhen ligands and Am(III)/Eu(III) ions. The electronic structures of the complexes are minimally affected by the substituents. However, thermodynamic results indicate that ligands with electron-withdrawing groups improve metal ion extraction ability, while ligands with electron-donating groups show the best Am(III)/Eu(III) selectivity.

Summary: We synthesized and analyzed nine unique copper(II) hydrazylpyridine salicylaldehyde and 1,10-phenanthroline complexes. It was found that these complexes exhibited higher anticancer activity and lower cytotoxicity towards normal cells compared to other substances. Specifically, Cugdupt1 and Cugdupt8 induced cell death through ATP depletion and activation of mitophagy pathways.

Summary: A dynamic pricing model is proposed to manage EV loads locally and mitigate equipment overloading in distribution systems. The model considers the sensitivity of EV owners to battery state of charge and urgency of recharge, and the welfare of the EV fleet operator in terms of net load and electricity price. The proposed method achieves privacy preservation and has shown effectiveness in mitigating transformer overloading during peak load hours.
