Summary: An approach to prepare previously unknown 5- and 7-azachromones was developed by condensing isomeric 2(4)-acetyl-3-hydroxypyridines with ethyl formate. The physicochemical studies showed that the lipophilicity and basicity were minimally affected by the introduction of the nitrogen atom, making the azachromones direct analogs of the parent chromone. The utility of azachromones was demonstrated by synthesizing a series of 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrano[3,2-b]pyridines and -[2,3-c]pyridines.

Summary: A new organic-inorganic hybrid material, TEACCl & BULL;FeCl4 (1, TEACCl+ = Et3NCH2Cl+), with a phase change at 264.3 K was synthesized and characterized. The reversible phase change near 264.3 K was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry, single crystal structure determination, and dielectric measurement. The enthalpy change of phase transition indicates that 1 can be used as a heat storage material.

Summary: This study presents a universal scheme for synthesizing core-shell hybrids (MOF@HOF) by using stable HOFs and surface-functionalized MOFs. The newly synthesized NH2-UiO-66@DAT-HOF core-shell nanostructure exhibits excellent stability and superb photocatalytic performance, with an apparent reaction rate constant up to 60.7 and 7.6 times higher than its parent materials NH2-UiO-66 and DAT-HOF for tetracycline degradation. This enhancement is attributed to the broader visible-light utilization range and efficient charge carrier separation supported by the S-scheme heterojunction. Furthermore, the photocatalytic efficiency of the core-shell nanostructure remains high after several-cycle applications.

Summary: Luminescent organic-inorganic metal halides (OIMHs) have gained recognition as a new materials family in recent years. By altering the organic component or the metal halide species, novel materials and applications of luminescent OIMHs have been explored. Among them, the stimuli-responsive (SR) phenomena in OIMHs have attracted much attention due to their potential applications and the insight they provide into the stability of OIMHs in external environments. This review focuses on the luminescent OIMHs that are responsive to external stimuli such as contact, pressure, mechanical grinding, light, heat, and gas molecules, with an emphasis on analyzing the structural changes during the SR process. The applications of SR luminescent OIMHs in fields like gas sensing, information encryption, and rewritable luminescent paper are summarized. Finally, the challenges that require further exploration in this research field are discussed, providing guidance for future investigations of SR luminescent OIMHs.

Summary: Crystalline materials have been crucial for the development of hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs), leading to interesting applications like solar cells and optoelectronic devices. Recently, the glassy state of HOIPs, which retains the basic building blocks of crystalline HOIPs but lacks long-range periodic order, has been discovered. The emerging family of glasses formed from HOIPs exhibit diverse properties complementary to their crystalline state. This mini review highlights the chemical diversity of 3D and 2D crystalline HOIPs and showcases the production of glasses from these materials, with a focus on achievements in melt-quenched glasses. Our perspective on the future of this new family of materials is also provided.

Summary: The translation is about the crystalline properties of organic-inorganic hybrid materials, classifying them into four levels based on their deviation from the strict definition of crystals. It discusses the different levels of crystallinity and defects in these materials, and provides a brief review on II-VI based hybrids, comparing them with their inorganic counterparts and other hybrids. The future studies of these hybrids are also mentioned.
