Summary: The synthesis and X-ray structures of three new [Cp*Ru(η1)-ArCN)(3)]PF6 (Ar = aryl) complexes are reported, which are thermally converted to [Cp*Ru(η6)-ArCN)]PF6 (Ar = aryl) sandwich complexes and subsequently recovered by UV light irradiation. Additionally, trans-selective hydroboration of internal alkynes using the synthesized complexes is disclosed.

Summary: A new organoruthenium(II) complex was designed, synthesized, and evaluated for cytotoxicity. The complex exhibited significant intermolecular interactions in the crystal structure, and showed preferential affinity toward minor groove in DNA photocleavage activity. Cytotoxic studies revealed moderate but selective activity against pancreatic and cervical cancer cell lines.

Summary: In this study, two different η(6)-arene Ru(II) complexes, Ru1 and Ru2, with fluorine substituent positions were synthesized and characterized for their binding with poly(U)*poly(A)·poly(U) triplex. It was found that Ru2 exhibited slightly higher binding affinity than Ru1, and both complexes similarly increased the stabilization of the third strand without affecting the template duplex stability significantly.

Summary: Treatment of [(Me3tacn)RuCl3.H2O] with sodium dialkyldithiocarbamate or O-alkyldithiocarbonate resulted in the formation of mononuclear species [(Me3tacn)RuIII(Kappa 2-S2CNR2)Cl]PF6 and dinuclear species [{(Me3tacn)RuIII}2(Kappa 2-S2COR)(Kappa 2-S2C = O)(mu-S2)]PF6, respectively. The complexes were characterized and their electrochemical properties were investigated. The dinuclear complexes showed absorption in the near-infrared region and their catalytic properties for H2 evolution by water splitting were explored.

Summary: This study synthesized trinuclear assemblies with specific structures through the reactions of different metal complexes, forming specific chemical bonds through the coordination of bidentate cyano ligands and metal ions. The study also revealed the spin coupling phenomena between different spin states, providing a theoretical basis for the design and synthesis of molecular materials with special properties.

Summary: In this study, a new complex cis-[Ru(dppm)(2)(bta)]PF6 was prepared from the precursor cis-[RuCl2(dppm)(2)] under mild conditions. The complex was characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopy (FTIR, H-1, P-31{H-1}, and F-19{H-1} NMR), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction, which confirmed its high purity and a distorted tetrahedral geometry for the ruthenium center.

Summary: In this study, the synthesis and single-crystal X-ray structures of three (η(6)-p-cymene)Ru(II) tetrafluoroborate salts were reported. The Ru(II) complexes were characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and chemical methods. The molecular structures were solved by single-crystal X-ray crystal diffraction analysis. Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations were performed to gain insights into the electronic and structural properties of the complexes, and the results were compared with experimental data. The electrophilicity indices of Ru1-3 were found to follow the order Ru3 > Ru2 > Ru1, which is consistent with their anticipated reactivity towards nucleophiles.

Summary: Desmodium styracifolium, a traditional Vietnamese medicinal herb, has been used to treat various diseases. Chemical investigation on the plant led to the discovery of a new compound, styracifoline, which showed potential inhibitory effects on diabetes and platelet activity in vitro experiments.
