Crystalline-state guest-exchange and gas-adsorption phenomenon for a Soft supramolecular porous framework stacking by a rigid linear coordination polymer

A 1D rigid, linear coordination polymer, (4,4 '-bipyridine)(2-pyridylsulfonate)copper, has been applied for the controlled-assembly of a new porous host that generates 1D channels by an interdigitated packing through the recognition of hydrogen bonding and pi-pi stacking interactions. The porous structure is architecturally robust when it reversibly uptakes water molecules and exchanges guest small molecules (MeOH, i-PrOH) from solution as determined by single-crystal-to-single-crystal transformation studies. Moreover, the open-channel solid displays irreversible benzene and toluene vapor sorption behaviors attributed to a widening of the channel cross-section that fetters the larger guest molecules, resulting from the dynamic, soft supramolecular framework.

Summary: In this study, the oscillation frequency of mesons composed of beauty and strange quarks was measured using B-s(0) -> D-s(-)pi(+) decays produced in proton-proton collisions at the LHCb detector. The measurement improved the precision of Delta m(s) by a factor of two compared to previous results when combined with other LHCb measurements.

Summary: In this study, an electron track algorithm was used to improve the angular resolution of a single layer Compton camera based on Timepix3, enhancing the accuracy to 12 degrees. The method showed significant results in the experimental demonstration.

Summary: This study reported a case of severe uremic calciphylaxis patient who showed significant improvement after receiving treatment with human amnion-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs). The long-term intravenous combined with local treatment of hAMSCs may be a potential regenerative treatment for uremic calciphylaxis.

The relationship between the formation of advanced glycation end products and quality attributes of fried sturgeon fillets

Summary: This study investigated the effects of frying temperature and time on the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in fried fish. The results showed that frying time significantly increased the production of fluorescent-AGEs, while shorter frying times had less impact on the formation of specific AGEs. Correlation analysis revealed associations between fluorescent-AGEs and moisture and L*, CML and lipid content, and CEL and free sulfhydryl groups. The formation of AGEs was found to be less affected by oxidation. Based on principal component analysis, it was recommended to fry sturgeon fillets for 5 minutes at 170 or 180 degrees Celsius.

Summary: This study evaluated the safety and immunogenicity of a recombinant five-antigen Staphylococcus aureus vaccine in healthy adults. The vaccine was found to be safe and well-tolerated, and it elicited strong humoral and cellular immune responses. Further research and development of this vaccine are warranted.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different thermal processing methods on the formation of AGEs in Pacific oysters and found that sous vide treatment at 70 degrees C was effective in reducing AGEs formation. The levels of fat content, oxidation, and moisture content were found to have an impact on AGEs formation.

Short stature and melanocytic nevi in a girl with ARID1B-related Coffin-Siris syndrome: a case report

Summary: This case report describes a girl with Coffin-Siris syndrome who presented with intellectual disability, short stature, and prominent cutaneous features. Whole exome sequencing identified a novel variant in the ARID1B gene. Treatment with recombinant human growth hormone resulted in significant improvement in height, and no enlargement or malignant transformation of nevi was observed during follow-up.

Pt1/Ni6Co1 layered double hydroxides/N-doped graphene for electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose sensing by synergistic enhancement of single atoms and doping

Summary: This study reports a novel Pt single-atom catalyst for highly efficient electrochemical catalysis and sensing of glucose. The loading of Pt single atoms increases with Co doping, providing more anchoring sites for Pt SAs. The resulting Pt-1/Ni(6)Co(1)LDHs/NG exhibits low oxidative potential, high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, and great stability. The boosted performance of Pt-1/Ni(6)Co(1)LDHs/NG originates from its stronger binding energy with glucose and the synergistic effect of Pt SAs, Co doping, and NG.

Novel Pickering emulsion stabilized by natural fiber polysaccharide-protein extracted from Haematococcus pluvialis residues

Summary: In this study, aqueous protein extraction from H. pluvialis residues (APHRs) was successfully extracted, which had high content of protein and carbohydrate. APHRs showed excellent emulsifying stability and oil holding capacity, and microscopic observation revealed the presence of fibrous polysaccharides that formed stable structural cross-linking around protein particles. Compared to other residues, APHRs formed emulsions with the smallest particle size and best storage stability.

Summary: We investigate exotic neutrino interactions using data from the CDEX-10 experiment at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. New constraints on the mass and couplings of new gauge bosons are presented. Two nonstandard neutrino interactions involving a UO1 thorn B-L gauge boson and a dark photon are considered.

The sequential structural transformation of a heptanuclear zinc cluster towards hierarchical porous carbon for supercapacitor applications

Summary: This study investigated the effects of cluster packing modes on phase and morphological changes during pyrolysis, revealing that weak correlative interactions and shape matching play important roles. The tracking of the pyrolysis process showed changes in solid material composition and porosity. Micro-mesoporous carbon Zn-7-1000 exhibited high capacitance and specific surface area, making it a potential candidate for high-performance devices.

Ruthenium-catalyzed meta-difluoromethylation of arene phosphines enabled by 1,3-dione

Summary: A highly efficient ruthenium-catalyzed difluoromethylation of arene phosphines has been developed using 1,3-dione as an effective ligand. A wide range of biarylphosphines with various functional groups are compatible with the reaction conditions, affording meta-difluoromethylated phosphine products in moderate to good yields.

Electronic structures of hydroxylated low index surfaces of rutile and anatase-type titanium dioxide

Summary: Different surface planes of various types of titanium dioxide crystals have diverse effects on the splitting of H2O and H-2, as well as the electronic structures of hydroxylated titanium dioxide. Particularly, the electronic structures of R-101, R-001, A-110, A-100, and A-001 surfaces are significantly influenced by hydroxylation.
