Summary: Immediate prophylactic treatment can reduce endoscopic postoperative recurrence rates in high-risk patients within 1 year, but the effect is not significant in low-risk patients. There is no significant difference in clinical postoperative recurrence within 3 years between prophylactic and endoscopy-driven treatment in both high-risk and low-risk patients, but there may be a cumulative effect in high-risk patients with multiple risk factors.

Summary: Postoperative recurrence in patients with Crohn's disease undergoing ileocolonic resection can lead to further bowel damage and decreased quality of life. Available scientific data on prevention and treatment of postoperative recurrence were reviewed, and a management algorithm for daily clinical practice was developed.

Summary: This study evaluated the accuracy of a new blood test called Endoscopic Healing Index (EHI) in monitoring the recurrence of Crohn's disease. The results showed that EHI had a high concordance with the Rutgeerts endoscopic score, suggesting its effectiveness as a monitoring method.

Summary: This study aimed to assess postoperative outcomes and validate the simple endoscopic score to predict Crohn's disease (CD) patients' disease-related outcomes. The findings showed that patients with colon-dominant disease had a higher risk of postoperative clinical recurrence, and SES-CD was effective in predicting postoperative clinical recurrence in CD patients.

Summary: The study found a significant association between endoscopic recurrence and subsequent clinical recurrence in postoperative Crohn's disease patients, supporting the use of endoscopic recurrence as a monitoring tool for disease activity and a primary endpoint in clinical trials.

Summary: A review of the literature found promising results regarding the use of vedolizumab and ustekinumab in preventing and treating postoperative Crohn's disease. However, additional controlled studies comparing these new biologics with anti-tumor necrosis factor agents are necessary.

Summary: This article describes the different methodologies used to report postoperative recurrence in patients with Crohn's disease, including endoscopic, histological, radiological, biochemical, clinical, and surgical approaches. The potential benefits and limitations of these methods, as well as the optimal timing of evaluation, are reviewed.

Summary: This study investigated the risk factors for symptomatic anastomotic postoperative recurrence in patients with ileo-colonic Crohn's disease. The study found that patients diagnosed at age <17 years and with gastrointestinal involvement >30 cm were at increased risk of symptomatic anastomotic postoperative recurrence.

Summary: This systematic review evaluates existing models for predicting postoperative recurrence of Crohn's disease and finds that prognostic models have great potential for assessing the risk of recurrence. However, further validation is needed for the reliability and applicability of existing models.

Summary: A magnetic resonance imaging-based index was developed and validated to predict Crohn's disease postoperative recurrence. The index demonstrated high accuracy and reliability in predicting postoperative recurrence of CD. The MONITOR index can be used in clinical practice to predict the POR of CD.

Summary: The study found that the combination of ulcer depth and circumference at the anastomosis at 6 months postoperatively was associated with endoscopic recurrence at 18 months. Based on these two parameters, a POCER postoperative index was established to identify patients who may require more intensive therapy.

Summary: About 50% of CD patients undergo intestinal resection, and 40% of those experience postoperative recurrence within 5 years. This case series aimed to evaluate the incidence of recurrence in CD patients with high risk and prophylactic treatment using Vedolizumab. Magnetic resonance enterography was used to assess the patients after surgical resection.

Summary: The use of anti-TNF-alpha agents is effective in preventing postoperative recurrence of Crohn's disease, with different rates observed at various time points. However, the type of biological agent and timing of treatment initiation after surgery have minimal impact on recurrence rates. Infliximab and adalimumab demonstrate similar efficacy in preventing postoperative recurrence.

Summary: This retrospective study investigated the association between postoperative complications and disease recurrence in Crohn's disease patients after primary ileocolic resection. The study found that postoperative complications are independent risk factors for endoscopic recurrence, affecting the rate and timing of both endoscopic and clinical recurrence.
