Summary: In this study, a novel core genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST) scheme was developed to trace clonal populations of Mycoplasma bovis using whole-genome sequencing. The results showed that cgMLST could distinguish between clonal and non-clonal strains and reveal more population structure characteristics than traditional MLST schemes.

Summary: Researchers provide three new complete M. bovis genomes and compare them, finding differences in the content of mobile genetic elements, which may impact the structure of the genomes. Whole-genome comparison of these genomes provides valuable resources for future studies combining epidemiology, phylogenetic data, and phylodynamic methods.

Summary: This study assembled and annotated the complete genome of HSV-2 strain G using PacBio long sequencing reads. It analyzed the 'alpha' sequence and identified packaging signals homologous to HSV-1, as well as determined the termini and cleavage site of the linear genome. The study also visualized four HSV-2 genome isomers using Oxford Nanopore Technology sequencing reads. Additionally, the coding sequences of strain G were compared with other HSV-2 strains and a phylogenetic analysis was conducted.

Summary: In this study, whole genome sequencing and analysis of M. agalactiae strain GrTh01 isolated from an outbreak of contagious agalactia revealed a previously unknown sequence type, ST35, and a particularly small genome size. GrTh01 displayed a reduced accessory genome, lacked variable antigens and Integrative Conjugative Element, suggesting their implication in host specificity, particularly in goats.

Summary: This study conducted comparative genomic and phylogenetic analyses on seven Neocinnamomum taxa, revealing the genetic structure and evolutionary characteristics of these species. The chloroplast genome of Neocinnamomum has a size range of 150,753-150,956 bp and contains 128 annotated genes. The study identified 31 preferred codons and three highly variable regions. The results of this study will serve as a reference for molecular marker development and phylogenetic research in Neocinnamomum.

Summary: Two important cattle diseases caused by mycoplasmas are Mycoplasma bovis and Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides. Current vaccines have limited effectiveness in combating these diseases, and there is a need for increased resources to improve vaccine coverage and reduce economic losses in the cattle industry caused by mycoplasmas.

Summary: This study used a genome-wide association study (GWAS) approach to investigate the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of Mycoplasma bovis, identifying nucleotide variants (NVs) associated with resistance to different classes of antimicrobials. The study concluded that AMR in M. bovis is influenced by multiple factors, including NVs in genes coding for membrane proteins, tRNA-ligases, peptidases, and transposases.

Summary: This study successfully determined the complete genome sequence of carnation latent virus (CLV) for the first time, revealing similarities with other carlaviruses in pairwise analysis. The coat protein of CLV showed high identity with the reference sequence, and phylogenetic analysis placed CLV within a cluster including butterbur mosaic virus, coleus vein necrosis virus, and garlic common latent virus.
