Summary: In this study, it was found that using open-label placebos can increase the frequency of performing muscle relaxation exercises, but there was no significant difference between the two groups in terms of changes in relaxation levels. Some participants rated the effects of the placebo as low and had a higher drop-out rate, indicating that factors influencing the acceptance of OLP treatment warrant further investigation.

Summary: This scoping review investigates sleep education and training programs specifically designed for shift working nurses. The review found that all nine included studies incorporated sleep hygiene content, with five studies also including psychological and/or behavior change motivation training. Various delivery methods were used, including in-person training, mobile phone applications, online self-guided presentations, and reading material with audio training. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Epworth Sleepiness Scale were commonly used outcome measures. Further research is needed to determine what constitutes effective sleep education and training for nurses.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of independently applying blood flow restriction training (BFRT) and electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), as well as combining the two methods, on muscle function. The results showed that combining BFRT and EMS for low-intensity squat training improved muscle strength of the lower limbs by promoting muscle hypertrophy and improving muscle activation.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of a 4-week intermittent energy restriction (IER) and continuous energy restriction (CER) program combined with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on weight, blood lipids, and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in overweight/obese adults. The results showed that both IER and CER were effective in weight loss and increased CRF, but IER had greater benefits in terms of weight loss and reducing body circumference.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the benefits of dietary restriction in patients with metabolic syndrome and determine whether it is the calorie or protein restriction that mediates the effects. The findings showed that isocaloric dietary protein restriction can achieve similar clinical outcomes as calorie restriction, making it a more attractive and less drastic dietary strategy for patients with metabolic syndrome and has potential as an adjuvant therapy.
