Summary: Practice ownership influenced the types of practices enrolled in EvidenceNOW, which in turn affected their participation in external facilitation. However, once enrolled, ownership did not significantly impact the level of participation. This suggests that facilitation approaches should be tailored based on ownership-related characteristics to improve engagement in quality improvement initiatives.

Summary: The study aimed to increase cardiometabolic monitoring for patients on antipsychotic drugs. After implementing quality improvement measures, the monitoring rate increased significantly and was sustained for 27 months post-intervention. Providers found the QI reminders to be non-burdensome, indicating potential for further improvements in monitoring rates.

Summary: The study found that despite the increasing use of external facilitation in mQI, its influence on improving the quality of acute stroke care was not significant. Most hospitals participated in the Stroke123 study and accessed stroke registry performance data.

Summary: By deleting competitive pathways, refactoring the FK506 biosynthetic gene cluster, and adding nutrients, a strategy for hyper-production of FK506 was successfully developed, leading to the construction of a hyper-production strain L19-9. This strategy can be generally applicable to other Streptomyces for improving FK506 production and streamlining hyper-production of other valuable secondary metabolites.

Summary: This study utilized remote monitoring technology and behavioral economics to improve treatment adherence in heart failure patients. Results indicated overall support from patients and clinicians for the intervention, but negative feedback was given regarding the frequency and quantity of electronic alerts.

Summary: The study found that monitoring for Metabolic Syndrome in patients treated with antipsychotics falls significantly short of guidelines, with only a small percentage of patients completing the recommended full tests. It also revealed that non-optimal testing is more likely to occur in children and adults, patients with fewer than 3 prescribers, and those with universal medical coverage.

Summary: Prescription of second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) in youth is rapidly increasing globally and in Australia. Lack of timely metabolic monitoring for potential adverse effects puts youth at greater risk for lifelong adverse health impact. It is crucial to understand the challenges in managing a complex and vulnerable patient cohort in order to bridge the gap between best practice standards and clinical practice in youth prescribed SGAs.

Summary: This study evaluated the implementation of a quality improvement intervention to improve intrapartum fetal heart rate monitoring and birth outcomes before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings showed improvement in the monitoring and documentation of fetal heart rate, timely action in high-risk deliveries, and changes in fetal outcomes during the pandemic.

Summary: The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of the publication of AACAP practice parameters on SGA metabolic monitoring in pediatric SGA recipients. A retrospective study was conducted using a national Electronic Medical Records database. The results showed that the publication of AACAP practice parameters was associated with a significant improvement in BMI monitoring, but no changes were observed for BG and CHL monitoring.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the knowledge, attitudes, practices, and adherence of psychiatrists in Jordan regarding metabolic monitoring guidelines for patients taking SGAs, as well as their perceived barriers. Findings showed that while most psychiatrists were aware of the guidelines, there were challenges in their implementation, with financial burden and lack of compliance from families and patients being major barriers identified.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate perceived barriers in the implementation of medication treatment for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in VHA facilities over a 12-month period using the i-PARIHS framework. The results showed that barriers primarily related to recipients, with fluctuations over time; initially, lack of training and waivers among providers was a major barrier, but decreased as more providers were trained and waivered to prescribe MOUD, only to resurface as facilities expanded MOUD prescribing to other clinics.

Summary: Background factors such as obesity, smoking, and sedentary behavior contribute to early mortality in psychotic disorders. However, adding a physical health nurse to the care of young people with first-episode psychosis did not prevent clinically significant weight gain, smoking, metabolic syndrome, or sedentary behavior. This suggests that more intensive interventions are needed.
