Summary: This study found that fitting RSC technology to high center of gravity light passenger vehicles produced a statistically significant 24% reduction in rollover risk from 2008 to 2017. Analysis on specific market groups showed significant risk reductions for commercial utilities and large SUVs, but not for other high center of gravity market groups individually.

Summary: In this study, using eye-tracking technology, the deviation of visual targets during fixational and saccadic tasks was quantified to reflect the control ability and characteristics of fixational displacement among healthy adults. The results showed that the displacement of visual targets in the horizontal and vertical directions was related to task type and age. This study provides an objective, quantitative, and convenient reference index for the evaluation of fixation stability in visual impairment diseases and the aging phenomenon of visual function.

Summary: An analysis was conducted on the influence of different factors on the rollover stability of vibroseis trucks, and a rollover warning index and anti-rollover warning system were established. Simulation analysis with MATLAB/Simulink software showed that the warning system accurately determined the driving state and produced four types of sound-light alarms. The study also found that vibroseis trucks exhibited poor roll stability in the slope steering process, making them more prone to rollover accidents. This research provides a foundation for further studying warning system designs for both vibroseis trucks and other articulated trucks.

Summary: This paper proposes an MPC-based control strategy to prevent vehicle rollover during high-speed driving. By considering tire force saturation and real-time rollover index, the control region is divided into different stability regions. State constraints are set based on driver behavior and road conditions to improve overall vehicle performance.

Summary: Recently, slot-die coating based on the roll-to-roll process has been widely used for fabricating nanoparticle-based electrolyte layers. However, the radial stress during the winding process can result in defects and geometric changes in the coated layer. Increasing radial stress reduces the thickness of the coated layer and can cause cracks, while residual stress and time further contribute to thickness changes and crack defects. By optimizing the taper tension profile, defects in the coated layer can be minimized.

Summary: The study evaluates the stability of commercially available compact narrow-track tractor types, especially the articulated tractor types that affect center of gravity and stability. By developing a kinematic model, the research aims to simulate the tractor's behavior and calculate the lateral stability angle for articulated tractors, offering guidance for adjusting tractor parameters to enhance stability performance.

Summary: This study proposes an improved dynamic rollover index (RI) that can detect real-time rollover events in heavy-duty vehicles. By designing an unknown input observer (UIO) to estimate the vehicle's roll angle and using a parameter estimation algorithm to observe unmeasurable and time-varying parameters, the proposed method shows accurate estimation of key parameters and strict rollover detection. Furthermore, a dynamic predictive rollover threshold is determined by investigating the thresholds of roll angle and lateral acceleration, ensuring sufficient response time for controller delay.

Summary: By combining theoretical arguments and numerical simulations, we have shown that metal pad roll instability can occur in a centimeter-scale setup with reasonable values of magnetic field and electrical current, using metal pairs that are liquid at room temperature. We have investigated two fluid pairs: gallium with mercury (immiscible pair) or gallium with GaInSn eutectic alloy (miscible pair).

Summary: The new integrated observer introduced in this paper can estimate the vehicle center of gravity (CG) height in real time, assisting in monitoring rollover risk and enhancing vehicle safety control systems. The algorithm can obtain CG height in both longitudinal and lateral motions without computational burden in real-time, utilizing readily available sensors for practicality. An experimental study validates the effectiveness of the algorithm in real-car application under various driving scenarios.

Summary: Walking on a ship in an unstable environment is different from walking on stable ground. This study explored the effects of the ship's roll motion on balance control and stability while walking in sea environments. The results showed significant differences in step time variability, lateral peak center of mass excursion, and margin of stability variability between walking on land and walking at sea.

Summary: A new 3D log-spiral model (LS-M model) is proposed for determining the minimal support pressure on the tunnel face of a large shield-driven tunnel in rock-soil interface (RSI) composite formations. The proposed model provides a collapse zone with more realistic geometry compared to traditional wedge models and has simpler implementation compared to limit equilibrium analysis. It has been validated through comparisons with previous studies and 3D numerical analysis.
