Link-Stability and Energy Aware Routing Protocol in Distributed Wireless Networks

Energy awareness for computation and protocol management is becoming a crucial factor in the design of protocols and algorithms. On the other hand, in order to support node mobility, scalable routing strategies have been designed and these protocols try to consider the path duration in order to respect some QoS constraints and to reduce the route discovery procedures. Often energy saving and path duration and stability can be two contrasting efforts and trying to satisfy both of them can be very difficult. In this paper, a novel routing strategy is proposed. This proposed approach tries to account for link stability and for minimum drain rate energy consumption. In order to verify the correctness of the proposed solution a biobjective optimization formulation has been designed and a novel routing protocol called Link-stAbility and Energy aware Routing protocols (LAER) is proposed. This novel routing scheme has been compared with other three protocols: PERRA, GPSR, and E-GPSR. The protocol performance has been evaluated in terms of Data Packet Delivery Ratio, Normalized Control Overhead, Link duration, Nodes lifetime, and Average energy consumption.

Shortest path reoptimization vs resolution from scratch: a computational comparison

Finite element modelling of combined turning/burnishing effects on surface integrity of Ti6Al4V alloy

Summary: This paper presents a physics-based model able to simulate the flow stress behavior of the Ti6Al4V alloy during subsequent severe plastic deformation processes, such as turning and burnishing. The proposed numerical model was validated through turning and roller burnishing experiments, accurately predicting the evolution of grain size, dislocations, hardness, and residual stresses in the manufactured Ti6Al4V components. Different process combinations can lead to similar microstructures, and information on different contributions can be highlighted through physics-based modelling and simulated process combinations.

Solution approaches for the vehicle routing problem with occasional drivers and time windows

Surface modifications induced by turning on additively manufactured Zr-702 and their effects on cell adhesion and proliferation for biomedical applications

Shortest paths with exclusive-disjunction arc pairs conflicts

Summary: This paper introduces a NP-hard variant of the shortest path problem, which involves exclusive-disjunction arc pairs conflicts. In this framework, a penalty has to be paid if a conflict is violated by selecting both arcs in a pair or none of them. The goal is to minimize the overall cost, defined as the sum of the costs of the traversed arcs and the penalties of the violated conflicts, by finding a path. The variant is used to model web applications test planning scenarios. The paper provides a proof of NP-hardness and proposes two mathematical programming formulations for the problem.

On the Relationship Between Speed and Mobility Sampling Frequency in Dynamic Urban Networks

Machine Learning Assists IoT Localization: A Review of Current Challenges and Future Trends

The existing literature released between 2020 and 2022 is examined and classified based on learning algorithm, chosen environment, specific covered IoT protocol, and measurement technique. The potential applications of learning algorithms in IoT localization and future trends are also discussed.

Effects of sampling frequency on node mobility prediction in dynamic networks: A spectral view

Summary: In this study, a new approach to mobility prediction by analyzing the effects of a proper mobility sampling frequency was proposed. The spectral content of mobility traces was considered to determine the appropriate sampling frequency, which was found to have significant effects on the characteristics of mobility. Simulation campaigns were performed to observe and evaluate these effects.
