Summary: This paper proposes an Enhanced Superframe offering Adaptive Duty cycle (ESAD) to meet the adaptive data traffic requirements of hierarchical Wireless Sensor Networks. The ESAD adjusts the active period according to requested data, halves the actual size of GTS, and applies the shortest job first algorithm to scrutinize requested GTS nodes, which increases link utilization, improves data transmission, reduces delay, and allows more nodes to transfer their data in a specified superframe.

Summary: Jamming attacks in WSNs significantly impact system performance metrics, with constant and reactive strategies affecting goodput, PRR, and energy efficiency. The experimental testbed results demonstrate a degradation in system performance with an increase in interferers, especially under reactive strategies.

Summary: A novel cross-layer scheme based on RPL is proposed to reduce energy consumption in wireless sensor networks, showing significant energy savings by selecting low-power settings in certain areas. By selecting optimal local transmit power and parent nodes, energy efficiency can be improved without sacrificing transmission efficiency.

Summary: LoRa networks provide long range, cost-effective and energy-efficient communications for IoT applications. However, high density networks face challenges in achieving reliable performance and scalability. This paper proposes a Sector-Based Time Slotted SBTS-LoRa MAC protocol that allows nodes to autonomously determine their transmission parameters based on location, improving scalability and throughput.

Summary: In this article, a contention-based proportional fairness transmission scheme is proposed for TSCH networks to maximize system throughput and achieve fair allocation of resources to nodes. A convex programming-based method is used to achieve the fairness and throughput objectives. Performance metrics such as throughput, delay, and energy consumption per successful transmission are derived and validated through simulations and real-time testbed implementations.

Summary: The IEEE 802.15.4 standard is widely used in the Internet of Things to define physical layer options and Medium Access Control (MAC) sublayer for low-power devices. Minimizing power consumption is crucial for battery-powered devices. This article presents the limitations of existing power conserving mechanisms and proposes a novel duty-cycling mechanism based on MAC parameters. It also analyzes the role of synchronization schemes in achieving efficient duty-cycles and develops a Markov model for estimating delay and energy consumption.

Summary: The IEEE 802.15.4 standard protocol is widely used in industrial wireless sensor networks due to its low energy consumption and optimal data rate. In this paper, a protocol called EEE-WSN is proposed, which alternates between carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) and time division multiple access (TDMA) modes to optimize efficiency. The protocol demonstrates superior performance in terms of energy consumption, end-to-end delay, and packet loss compared to IEEE 802.15.4.

Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the Age of Information (AoI) for four versions of the Frame slotted Aloha (FSA) protocol. The analysis includes the derivation of AoI statistics, lower bounds of AoI, and the optimum frame length for FSA. Results show how the arrival rate and protocol parameters impact AoI and suggest that retransmission can improve AoI under certain conditions.
