Summary: The efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems is highly dependent on continuously varying atmospheric conditions. To optimize the PV system efficiency under fast-changing environmental conditions, including partial shading, an efficient maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method is required. This paper proposes a different MPPT control structure that integrates the MPPT algorithm into the proportional-integral (PI) voltage controller routine, achieving high-speed MPPT and extreme dynamic tracking improvements.

Summary: During partial shading conditions, the efficiency of power transfer in a Photovoltaic system decreases significantly, leading to the formation of hotspots. To address this issue, using metaheuristic algorithms for Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) can yield favorable results. This study introduces a novel MPPT approach based on the Archimedes Optimization Algorithm (AOA) and evaluates its performance against other state-of-the-art algorithms.

Summary: As the penetration level of on-grid photovoltaic systems increases, the power quality of the utility grid becomes a crucial issue, and the recent studies have identified the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms as one source of interharmonics emission from PV inverters. This paper investigates the mechanism of interharmonics generation and proposes a new mitigation technique based on modifying the MPPT algorithm to effectively minimize the generated interharmonics. The proposed method reduces the interharmonic peaks in the output injected current to the grid by 27% compared to other conventional and modified MPPT algorithms.

Summary: Differential power processing (DPP) is a highly competitive architecture for photovoltaic (PV) applications due to its high energy efficiency and mitigation of mismatch issues. However, the complexity of coupling between DPP converters poses challenges in terms of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in DPP-based PV systems. This article presents a method that makes the application of synchronous MPPT in DPP topology feasible based on a simple and easy partial decoupling method, improving the efficiency of MPPT and scalability of the system.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of sampling rate on electrical power measurements based on the Conservative Power Theory (CPT), revealing an error associated with reactive power being inversely proportional to the sampling rate. The findings suggest that depending on the sample rate, errors in reactive power measurements may be unacceptable, rendering the implementation of CPT unfeasible. The research also provides valuable insights on the minimal sampling rate required to mitigate these errors.

Summary: This article investigates the small-signal analysis of islanded ac microgrids with voltage-controlled converters and current-controlled converters. The current-controlled converters can deliver power from nondispatchable energy sources and perform active filtering function to improve microgrid power quality. The transient characteristics after a local non-linear load step are highly dependent on the operation mode of the current-controlled converters. A generic small-signal model is derived to study these effects and its accuracy is validated through simulations and experiments.
