Summary: The efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) systems is highly dependent on continuously varying atmospheric conditions. To optimize the PV system efficiency under fast-changing environmental conditions, including partial shading, an efficient maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method is required. This paper proposes a different MPPT control structure that integrates the MPPT algorithm into the proportional-integral (PI) voltage controller routine, achieving high-speed MPPT and extreme dynamic tracking improvements.

Summary: Reconfiguration is an effective way to increase the output power of a PV array under partial shadows. However, the traditional methods overlook the error caused by treating partially shaded PV modules as fully shaded ones. To address this issue, a new reconfiguration method based on the exact partial shadow shape projected on the PV array is proposed. Extensive cell-based simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in enhancing the PV output power when compared to other reconfiguration methods and shadow distributions.

Summary: This experimental study investigates the MPP characteristics of partially shaded strings of photovoltaic modules, eliminating the shortcomings of previous studies based on hypothetical shading patterns. The research shows that the global MPP voltage fluctuates widely, and by using the MPP closest to the nominal voltage as the operating point, significant reduction in energy losses can be achieved.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of a PV power plant, considering different connection types, partial shading conditions, and MPPT algorithms. The results show that the Total Cross Tied (TCT) connection type performs better than others under all shading conditions. Shading patterns have different effects on the system's losses and efficiency. It has been proven that simple algorithms can achieve the performance of complex algorithms when the connection type is properly adjusted. Overall, considering different combinations is crucial for enhancing PV system efficiency and reducing installation complexity.
