Summary: Cai and Zhang established two lower bounds for sin Theta distances using spectral and Frobenius norms, while the authors of this study provided two lower bounds under any unitarily invariant norm, suggesting that their estimation is superior in some sense.

Summary: This brief investigates the problems of bounded real lemmas in the sense of H infinity norm for singular fractional-order systems with the commensurate order 1 < alpha < 2. Novel necessary and sufficient conditions are proposed for bounded real lemmas in the form of linear matrix inequalities with equality constraints. An H-infinity controller synthesis problem is analyzed for singular fractional-order systems with norm bounded uncertainties, and the corresponding controller is designed based on the bounded real lemmas, illustrated with an example of a singular fractional-order electrical circuit.

Summary: In this paper, a set of non-recursive formulae used in the computation of the largest output-nulling and the smallest input-containing subspaces are presented and proven. These formulae have been used in various contexts in the geometric approach, but a proof has been lacking. The paper establishes these formulae in the general possibly non-strictly proper case, and also proposes some ancillary side results of independent interest.

Summary: This study investigates the structural stability and local uniqueness of bang-bang-singular extremals in a fixed-free Mayer problem. The research proves that under certain assumptions, the extremal solution can be a strict strong local optimizer.

Summary: In recent years, digital image watermarking has become crucial for copyright protection, security, and multimedia content identification. This research proposes a robust and blind image watermarking scheme that directly modifies image pixels in the spatial domain by quantizing the block-wise invariant maximum singular value. The proposed approach demonstrates strengths through experimental results compared with recent and similar watermarking approaches.

Summary: In this paper, we investigate the approximation problems of kernel projection operators with mixed norms and provide the approximation order for such operators. Our new results on approximation based on mixed norms extend the traditional conclusions, but our research techniques are original and distinct from conventional methods due to the non-commutativity of integrals.

Summary: This article examines the path dependence of adiabatic evolution in classical harmonic chains with clamps. It demonstrates that cutting and joining a chain can braid adiabatic normal mode frequencies. Consequently, different adiabatic paths with the same endpoints can transport a normal mode to a different one, and an adiabatic cycle pumps action variables, i.e., the adiabatic invariants of integrable classical systems. Additionally, it shows an application of another adiabatic pump for artificial edge modes induced by clamps. The article also provides an outline for extensions to completely integrable systems and quantum systems.

Summary: In this paper, conditions for the existence of maximal J-semi-definite invariant subspaces of unbounded J-selfadjoint operators are established. The results apply to operators where all entries of the formal matrix representation induced by the indefinite metric are unbounded, without requiring any definiteness or J-dissipativity assumptions. As a consequence, an unexpected result on the accumulation of non-real eigenvalues at the real axis is obtained, which is of independent interest.

Summary: This paper investigates the existence of traveling, solitary, and periodic waves for the perturbed generalized KdV equation using geometric singular perturbation, differential manifold theory, and regular perturbation analysis of Hamiltonian systems. It is shown that under certain assumptions, these waves exist in the perturbed system. The speed of the waves is proven to decrease, with upper and lower bounds for the limit wave speed provided. Additionally, the relationship between wavelength and wave speed of traveling waves is established.

Summary: This paper establishes generalized sampling theorems, stability theorems, and new inequalities in shift-invariant subspaces of Lebesgue and Wiener amalgam spaces. It also provides a convergence theorem for general iteration algorithms for sampling in certain shift-invariant subspaces of L-(p) over right arrow(R-d).

Summary: This paper proves that A(i) and B-i are positive definite matrices for all i = 1, . . . , m. It is shown that [GRAPHICS] holds for all unitarily invariant norms, where p > 0 and r >= 1 such that rp >= 1. This gives an affirmative answer to a conjecture posed by Dinh, Ahsani and Tam, and directly leads to a recent result of Audenaert in 2015.

Summary: This study investigates how to make the output of a linear system with polytopic uncertainties and discontinuities in the state evolution totally insensitive to an unknown disturbance input by state feedback. Suitable geometric notions are introduced to provide a structural, constructive solvability condition, and further solvability conditions are provided by requiring that the time instants at which discontinuities in the state evolution occur are sufficiently far from each other to achieve global robust asymptotic stability of the compensated dynamics.
