Summary: This paper presents a novel decoupling method for designing a dual-band closely arranged MIMO antenna pair with high isolation for 5G smartphones. By combining a bent loop and a T-shaped monopole into a compact space, multiple in-phase and out-of-phase modes are excited at two different bands to reduce mutual coupling. The proposed antenna pair achieves high isolation of over 24 dB without additional decoupling structures. An 8 x 8 MIMO system is developed using four such antenna pairs, operating at 3.3-3.6 GHz and 4.4-5.0 GHz, with isolation exceeding 12.8 dB, low envelope correlation coefficients (ECCs) below 0.18, and efficiencies above 71% and 68% in the respective bands. This MIMO system features dual-band operation, compact structure, and excellent isolation, providing a promising solution for 5G smartphone antenna design.

Summary: This article presents a wideband printed-monopole antenna pair with enhanced isolation. A clear two-step method based on even-mode (EM) and odd-mode (OM) analyses is developed for antenna decoupling and matching. The proposed antenna pair offers isolation higher than 20 dB and total efficiency higher than 87% from 3.7 to 7.3 GHz. Furthermore, a four-element multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) array constructed by intersecting two of the proposed antenna pairs at their central line offers better than 20 dB isolation level from 3.8 to 7.4 GHz for every two ports.

Summary: The novel broadband matching and decoupling network (MDN) is designed for a symmetric two-element array of microstrip patch antennas, achieving increased efficiency and isolation through the excitation of new half-modes with parallel shorting posts. A resonator-based equivalent-circuit model is used to study the coupling mechanism. Overall, the proposed design outperforms other state-of-the-art approaches.

Summary: In this article, a capacity-oriented envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is proposed for assessing a multiple antenna system of a MIMO mobile device. The ECC-M is proven to reflect the impact of radiation patterns and total efficiencies of multiple antennas on channel capacity. By studying two channel models, an easy-to-use ECC-M expression is derived and shown to be important in assessing the performance of multiple antennas.

Summary: In this communication, a high-isolation tripolarized metasurface antenna with a low profile is proposed for indoor access-point applications. By utilizing differential-mode excitations and multiport common-mode excitation, triple polarization diversity is achieved. Nonuniform unit patches and slot structures are introduced to tune the resonant frequencies of target characteristic modes. The fabricated antenna shows good impedance bandwidth and isolation in the operating band.

Summary: This article proposes a wideband tripolarized antenna for fifth-generation access point applications. The antenna is composed of a circular patch and a square reflector, and is excited by three ports separated by 120. The bandwidth and isolation of the antenna are enhanced by circular hook shaped slots and a defective ground reflector. The measured impedance bandwidth of the antenna is 46.9% (3.1 GHz-5 GHz) and the peak isolation is -26 dB.
