Summary: In this study, a novel encoding approach is proposed for chipless RFID tags. The introduced design concept deals with mutual coupling effect between elements, enabling the tag to resonate at any desired frequency. The proposed mechanism utilizes the particle swarm optimization algorithm to optimize the tag structure parameters, approaching the resonant frequencies determined by the user in advance.

Summary: A novel and simple design procedure for multibit chipless RFID tags is introduced based on DMLR and OLR characteristics, allowing for the observation of multiple frequency codes. By coupling multiple resonators to I/O ports, multiple codes can be achieved, while size reduction can be achieved using meandered resonators.

Summary: This paper presents a unique geometry of a chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) tag for encoding a large number of bits in a very small form factor. The tag operates in the frequency range of 3.1 to 10.5 GHz and has an overall size of 14.5 x 28 mm². It exhibits a high code density of 9.85 bits/cm² and spectral efficiency of 5.4 bits/GHz. This chipless RFID tag has the potential for various modern RFID applications.

Summary: In this article, a compact chipless RFID tag with a small size and high data density is proposed. The tag consists of nested octagonal loops arranged in a concentric configuration and is designed to improve the resonating modes with respect to the number of resonating elements. An 11-bits data capacity is achieved within a physical dimension of 10 x 10 mm(2), resulting in a high data density of 11 b/cm(2). The tag advantages include its compact size, high data density, and improved resonating modes.

Summary: This work presents the design and analysis of a newly developed reconfigurable, flexible, inexpensive, optically-controlled, and fully printable chipless Arabic alphabet-based RFID tags. Each tag has its own unique electromagnetic signature, which can be used for the detection and recognition of all Arabic alphabet tags. The study also discusses the effect of font type and size on the electromagnetic signature of the tags, which has not been explored before.

Summary: This article introduces a 14-bit chipless RFID label that can be used as a decimal numeric keypad for secure access control applications. The label, made of a low-cost single layer design with 10 RF loop scatterers, codes information in the frequency domain. The resonators are carefully selected to be highly resonant and sensitive to the presence or absence of the human finger, allowing for detection of key pressing events.

Summary: The proposed research introduces a novel chipless RFID tag that is fully passive, data-dense, and compact with a size of 15 x 15 mm(2). This tag has a 15-bit data, allowing for 2(15) unique ID combinations. It achieves a bit density of 6.67 bits/cm(2) due to its data-dense structure. The tag is optimized and analyzed for various flexible laminates including Rogers (RT/duroid®/5880), Kapton® HN, PET, and HP-photopaper, using silver nanoparticle-based conductive tracks for printability. The conductivity of the silver ink used is 9 x 10(6) S/m. The fully printable tag structure, optimized with HP-photopaper substrate and silver nanoparticle-based ink, aligns with the concept of green electronics as it utilizes an organic paper substrate. The tag also exhibits humidity sensing behavior due to the moisture-absorbing nature of paper. With its attractive features such as robustness, flexibility, simple printing, and compatibility with budget-friendly extensible substrates, this tag can be applied in rough environments for sensing purposes.
