Summary: A large amount of non-dispatchable photovoltaic and wind power is planned in smart cities, but the problem of massive energy storage has not been solved, limiting the use of green energy on a larger scale. Currently, the only available battery energy storage is effective for storing modest quantities of energy for short periods of time. The alternative option is to use electrolyzers to generate hydrogen from green energy and use it to stabilize the grid, but this solution is not widely implemented yet.
