Landslide generated waves are studied using a numerical model based on Navier-Stokes equations, with a VOF algorithm to track the interfaces. Unlike most earlier simulations of this problem, our model implicitly describes the coupling between slide and water. Simulations are first compared with earlier measurements of a solitary wave generated by a rigid bloc failing down in a shallow water flume. We then perform simulations to evaluate the role of slide deformation on the characteristics of generated waves. Results highlight both the importance and complexity of slide deformation on wave characteristics. Hence, we recommend to consider slide rheology in tsunami risk assessment.
