Summary: This study confirms the predictive value of noninvasive markers (LSM and VITRO) in determining the development of hepatic decompensation and hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with chronic liver disease caused by hepatitis C after cure. By combining these markers, it is possible to more accurately identify the risk of hepatic decompensation in patients in the future.

Summary: Liver biopsy has been historically used as the gold standard for assessing liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis C patients. However, the introduction and validation of noninvasive tests (NITs) and the use of direct-acting antiviral agents have made the role of NITs more complex. This report provides a critical overview of the different NITs available for assessing liver fibrosis in HCV patients.

Summary: This study assessed the diagnostic performance of elastography point quantification (ElastPQ), transient elastography (TE), and aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet count ratio index (APRI) for the staging of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic viral hepatitis. It found that ElastPQ showed similar diagnostic accuracy to TE and was more accurate than APRI.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the prevalence of portal hypertension in different etiologies of patients with cACLD and develop classification rules based on LSM. The prevalence of portal hypertension was high in most etiologies except for NASH patients, especially obese ones. LSM >= 25 kPa was sufficient to diagnose CSPH in most etiologies, except for obese NASH patients.

Results showed that most psychosocial work factors were associated with poor well-being in women, and half of them in men. Noise exposure was found to be related to poor well-being in women, indicating the importance of considering multiple occupational factors for improving overall well-being.

Summary: It is still uncertain whether regorafenib or trifluridine/tipiracil should be administered first in heavily pre-treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients. A prospective multicenter real-world study found similar survival rates in the regorafenib and trifluridine-tipiracil groups. Using propensity score analysis, the trifluridine-tipiracil group had a significantly longer progression-free survival (PFS), while clinical outcomes seemed similar regardless of the treatment sequence.
