Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of serum AKR1B10 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The results showed that serum AKR1B10 level was associated with tumor stage, size, primary tumor number, and Child-Pugh classification. High levels of serum AKR1B10 were correlated with shorter survival. Univariate and multivariate COX regression analyses demonstrated that serum AKR1B10 level was an independent unfavorable prognostic marker of HCC.

Summary: CDK2AP1 expression in HCC is associated with clinical stage, prognosis, and immune infiltration levels. KEGG enrichment analysis revealed pathways affected by CDK2AP1 including phagocytosis, T cell differentiation, and cell cycle. CDK2AP1 is a potential target for HCC therapy.

Summary: Gastric cancer is uniquely associated with chronic gastritis caused by H. pylori infection, leading to the activation of inflammatory pathways and transcription factors which upregulate cytokine production. The diverse cytokine patterns in gastric cancer, including pro-tumour and anti-tumour effects, may play a role in patient outcomes, with higher interleukin-6 levels linked to poorer prognosis. Further studies linking peripheral cytokine levels to patient prognosis may uncover important pathological mechanisms impacting survival in gastric cancer.

Summary: The study shows that metformin inhibits HCC progression by activating the Hippo signaling pathway and regulating IL-22, thereby reducing the incidence and tumor burden of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Summary: In patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, serum sodium levels are associated with the efficacy of sorafenib, with low sodium levels, high alpha-fetoprotein levels, and low AFP levels being independent prognostic factors for TTP.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether serum interleukin-1 (IL-1) could discriminate unstable intracranial aneurysms (RIAs and UIAs) from stable, asymptomatic UIAs. The IL-1 ratio showed excellent diagnostic accuracy for RIAs. Serum IL-1 levels correlate with aneurysm tissue IL-1 levels and could serve as a potential biomarker for IA instability.

Summary: Chronic UV exposure leads to a shift in the immune response towards ROR gamma t+ IL-22/IL-17A-producing cells, which are associated with mutant KC growth, and targeting these immune components may represent potential strategies for skin cancer prevention.

Summary: The study comprehensively analyzed the expression patterns and clinical significance of ITIHs in various cancers, showing primarily down-regulated expression. ITIH1 was found to be significantly decreased in liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) and its down-regulation adversely impacted patient outcome, possibly involving cellular metabolic processes. The findings established ITIH1 as a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for LIHC.

Summary: In this study, the expression and clinical significance of DNM1L in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) were investigated. It was found that DNM1L expression was significantly higher in HCC tissues compared to adjacent/normal liver tissues. High DNM1L expression was associated with poorer overall survival and disease-free survival in HCC patients. Furthermore, DNM1L was found to be involved in key metabolic pathways and the resistance to sorafenib therapy, as well as the infiltration of immune cells in the tumor microenvironment.

Summary: This study identified the methylation characteristics of PD-1-negative HCC samples and proposed a prognostic model based on DMEGs. The tumor samples showed significantly lower ESTIMATE scores compared to normal samples, and 31 DMEGs were identified as able to distinguish PD-1-negative samples from normal samples. Functional enrichment analysis revealed the involvement of these genes in tumor-related and immune-related pathways, and potential therapeutic drugs were identified through DrugBank screening. The prognostic model based on three DMEGs demonstrated good predictive power for HCC prognosis and was validated in an independent cohort.

Summary: The study found that hsa_circ_0000615 is significantly upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma patients with chemoresistance, and its upregulation is positively correlated with disease stage. High levels of hsa_circ_0000615 expression are associated with shorter overall survival among chemoresistant patients.
