Phenotypic characterization of primary cardiac fibroblasts from patients with HFpEF

Summary: This study analyzed the changes of cardiac fibroblasts in HFpEF patients by examining the left ventricular epicardial biopsies. The results showed significant differences in the expression of collagen I and MT1-MMP in HFpEF cardiac fibroblasts, while proliferation and aSMA did not show significant changes. These findings reveal the pathogenesis of HFpEF and provide new insights for the treatment of this disease.

The results showed that liver stiffness measurement had a higher predictive ability for rebleeding compared to non-invasive fibrosis score, and the use of non-selective beta-blockers and HBV DNA-negative status significantly reduced rebleeding events.

Summary: Proteome deconvolution can be used to analyze the proportions of different cell types and the composition of extracellular compartments in liver tissue. By analyzing proteomics data, we found that the proportions of immune and stellate cells correlate with inflammatory markers and altered composition of extracellular matrix proteins characteristic of early-stage fibrosis. These findings offer new insights for the study and clinical diagnosis of liver diseases.

Stiffness is associated with hepatic stellate cell heterogeneity during liver fibrosis

Summary: The wound-healing response in liver increases stiffness, which in turn amplifies fibrogenesis. This study reveals heterogeneous distribution of stiffness in fibrotic liver at macroscopic and microscopic levels and its impact on hepatic stellate cell heterogeneity. Stiffness in high-density extracellular matrix areas is mainly responsible for high liver stiffness. Moreover, a specific protein, FHL2, is found to be upregulated in a stiffness-sensitive subpopulation of hepatic stellate cells, promoting extracellular matrix production.

Summary: Nestin protein is a valuable biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis assessment in cHCC-CCA. It can distinguish cHCC-CCA from HCC and has high prognostic value. Nestin immunohistochemistry may be used to refine risk stratification and improve treatment allocation for patients with this highly aggressive malignancy.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the sensitivity of transient elastography (TE) as a screening tool for early hepatic tissue changes and serum biomarkers for liver disease. The results showed that TE was able to detect early stages of steatosis and fibrosis. Furthermore, SteatoTest and ActiTest performed well in diagnosing steatosis and necroinflammatory activity in A-T patients, consistent with the TE findings.

Biopsies infiltrated by histiocytes can mimic other conditions, such as inflammation or mesenteric sclerosis. Mutations in BRAF or MAP2K1 genes are important diagnostic markers for histiocytosis.
