The authors present mechanostructural characterization of laser-deposited equiatomic medium-entropy alloy (MEA) FeNiCr coatings additionally in-situ alloyed with 5 and 7 wt.% B4C. The FeNiCr-B4C coatings were deposited on AISI 1040 steel substrate by short-pulsed laser cladding. In particular, the microhardness evolution of the coatings reinforced with B4C is demonstrated here. The results obtained demonstrate that laser cladding combined with in-situ B4C alloying process can be considered as a promising method for obtaining strength composite FeNiCr-B4C coatings.
